We had chicken Handi homemade it was.Father in law was taken out for fish and chips,he is not keen on the food we eat,so we have to eat boring normal stuff meat chicken three veg,and nothing exotic,so we took the opportunity to fill our boots yesterday, funnily enough a guy in Somerset could smell the aroma as it wafted around the atmosphere.

Food i was talking to someone Tuesday night ,six mince pies 9p.I might have my Christmas in January this year.It will be much cheaper with the bargains.

Scotch broth, then a bolognese pasta bake.

Got lucky in Waitrose on sticker last night, picking up a 400g chunk of lamb breast for £1.84 and two 6oz aberdeen angus burgers for £1.70, both off the counter. The lamb went into the soup* and the burgers ended up being the base for my ragu.

* the lamb is now out of the soup, and I will use the meat to make a hotpot or some pasties or something of that ilk.

I'm having a bit of fun adapting my 'falafels by accident' recipe... I'm deliberately not looking at any recipes, just to see how divergent mine end up...

Yesterday's version had the addition of egg to help them stick together in the pan, and I used the Braun choppy stick thing to get a finer texture (and make it easier/quicker). I forgot salt, but they were still more than OK, especially with the addition of a drizzle of sweet chilli sauce on the warm falafels.

By some terrible accident, I seemed to have eaten all eight of them by yesterday evening, so today into the mix went some finely chopped and gently pre-fried onion (and I remembered the salt). I ended up with ten 'falafels' from the one tin of chick peas this time, and having eaten two for lunch, I can conform that they are delicious. Photo is of yesterday's creations. The Ikea cast iron frying pan is perfect for the job.

Black pudding, fried onions, buttered new potatoes and caulisprout cheese with a garlic crumb topping :hungry:

The black pudding, potatoes, stilton, milk and the bread for the crumb topping were all yellow sticker purchases, while the cauliflower and sprouts were on the massive Tesco clubcard veggie offers in the run-up to Christmas.

Before y'all ask, I have an unheated utility room where I store my veg and tatties. Things keep really well in there. The remaining sprouts are now looking a bit tired though, so I shall peel them, steam them and shoehorn them in the freezer.

A BIG pan of chicken rogan josh. I added plenty of onion, red bell pepper and mushrooms.
Its cooling now, I will freeze it tomorrow. There will probably be enough for 5 decent portions.

Me and father in law.lamb shanks new spuds carrots and broccoli.Shanks were easy cover in foil 30 mins but on 25 mins remove foil.Mrs P was lunching out. They were even in their own trays. Not really cooking,a bit like Brooklyn Beckham.

Lettuce, parsley & potato soup, then braised lamb belly, fried new potatoes and caulisprout cheese with a garlic crumb topping. :hungry:

Lettuce & parsley picked up on YS, the tatties were freebies, the lamb was yellow sticker, as were the new potatoes, and the assorted veg that went into things were either YS or clubcard. The caulisprout cheese ingredients were as posted upthread.
