Boy, 14, sentenced for towing caravan down M4

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-65087492

Our legal system beggars belief....... So there weren't terrible consequences, so hey-ho no real action taken. If he/they had badly injured someone who couldn't ever work again and had a family to feed, would they (the victims) get help, as the perpetrators were uninsured.
Makes my blood boil. The ones passing the sentence should be dispensed with - they are not fit to do the job.

I presume they would, as a percentage of our insurance premiums goes into a 'pot' to cover claims against uninsured drivers, or it did
Whether there's a limit on the claim amount, I have no idea?

Magistrates were probably bound by guidelines
'Community Impact' rulings, if my own thoughts about the originations of the accused are correct

Problem is he was probably a better drivers than millions of others who do have licenses & insurance

Don't get me started on the subject of some drivers who are still allowed on the road with over 50 points on their licences because they need the car to take granny to the bingo ........ they should have thought of that before committing the offences.
I said don't get me started.......

I replaced the 7-pin plug earlier, as part of the problem with 'tail-light bulb' messages might be the cable moving in the plug, as the one that was fitted had no internal clamp
It's going to be a 'trial & error procedure'
There's still an intermittent fault, so I think I'll have to rewire the entire trailer, & replace the dodgy off-side tail-light

I've done it earlier this afternoon, using the 7-core from my lighting board, that's only been used twice since, pre-2010!
When we bought the (short-lived) Touareg, & when I bought my trailer (tested, & taken, just in case its own lights didn't work)

I've not tried it yet, as I was in glaring sunlight, & was getting a headache, so once it was all together, it went back in the garage for now

EDIT @ 17:46
I've taken the trailer out to the Kodiaq, hitched it up, barring a slightly embarrassingly transposed brake & tail-light connectors, in both lights:blush:, all works
The lucar connectors were just swapped over, all okay now

However, Sods Law dictates that something will not function correctly, when I first use it again

EDIT; Monday 3rd @ 08:53
There's a very short 7-core on the light-board now
That's the next job, after finding some side-reflectors for the trailer (Indespension - Leeds, didn't have any last week)

Monday 10th

Our last day in Edinburgh, l’ve told SWMBO that l want to go to the local ‘Indespension’ to look at trailers
I haven’t told her it’ll be closed due to Easter

I think she has visions of our towing a new trailer, that l’d bought, back down the A1

SWMBO is off to Rudding Park (Harrogate) again, on Saturday, for 3 nights
I'm taking it (& f-in-law) up there, so she doesn't have to worry about the towing (& having the dog in her car too), positioning it, leaving him to sort it out, then coming home
I'm working whilst she's up there, but collecting it on Wednesday morning, returning it to the compound, then heading off to a loathsome/abhorrent 'late-turn'

It all works fine :okay: ^_^

Despite some deliberate bouncing over speed-humps/positioning (when viable) the Kodiaq, so that the trailer-wheels hit potholes
No warnings on the instrument panel about faulty trailer lights, for any bulb
It ought to be good for a few years, with completely new wiring & light-units

Re; the side-reflectors I mention in the quoted section, I got a quartet from Wandahome, the caravan dealer, near FerryBridge Services, where the 'old' A1, & the M62, intersect
(our own BWSOW came from there)

Rainbows aren't just for world champions
Reminds me I need to fix the wiring in the junction box under mine.

LED lamps meet in the box then off along the chassis to a female plug, I have a curly Male - Male when trailers on.
