What do we think of De Lie? 24 years old and already has 35 pro wins, though precious few at the very top end (GP Quebec, Bretagne Classic and Renewi GC his biggest - and only WT wins). Was sent out to farm UCI points in SSR's (see Cav for the acronym...) but couldn't keep Lotto WT in '22, succeeded in getting promotion '25.... Has had some complicated media attention and weird stuff going on with Lotto. Earmarked for greatness early on but.... a bit overhyped really? Somehow more Arno the Kid than Arnaud the Wünderkind?

All true. Think he will forever be a "what could have been" rider. He doesn't seem to have the absolute work ethic or dedication of someone like a Seixas. Has weight issues and injury or sickness issues. Doesn't enjoy a too structured environment, but rather needs his freedom on home roads (or home-ish roads), doesn't want to go to altitude etc.

He has incredible potential, but I don't think he will ever put the pieces together to win for extended periods. However, his potential is great enough, that he could get a Paris -Roubaix win if everything goes his way. I wouldn't hold my breath though. Personally, I would not sign him or Roglic at this stage of his career.

He would be tailor made for QS if Lefevere were still there. 😉

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
Tobias Lund Andresen also out for the rest of the season with mononucleosis (glandular fever) - he's had it since the Giro but only found out now what it was, and hasn't raced since Copenhagen Sprint in June

Isn't that what Cav had?

I think so. It's caused by the Epstein-Barr virus, and Cav definitely had that, but it has a load of other disease links, inc. several forms of cancer

I’ve seen it ruin the prospects of some decent amateurs in the past. The virus never goes and in rare cases can recur although in most cases you supposedly build up some immunity.

Matt Winston from Picnic to Decathlon

Linking back up with Bardet, except that this time Bardet will be the boss.

It really is all over then. Looking at their roster for next year they'll have Warren Barguil leading all 3 GTs and driving the team car.

I'm honestly surprised that any Picnic management are wanted anywhere, from the tales of being overly-controlling of riders as DSM to a recruitment policy that rivals the Israel team signing Froome for two decades to the complete absence of any notable points on that table this season... Surely the management - from top to DSes has some responsibility here?

There are no fewer than twelve PRT teams above them, as well as the 17 other WT teams. In fact there are only four PRT teams tat are ranked below them - Euskaltel - Euskadi (only sign Basque riders), Flanders - Baloise (folding at the end of the year), Modern Adventure Pro Cycling (brand new team, mainly sign Americans) and Novo - Nordisk (only sign diabetics). They just over 300 pts ahead of the highest ranked CT level team, and could genuinely get caught by the Red Bull development CT team (700 something points below).

They seem to be growing into the Vuelta though .... After not scoring a single UCI point in the first 7 stages, de Jong suddenly hit the big-time with a 15th place on stage 8.... That's a massive two points. Unfortunately they haven't managed to build on that in the last three stages since then.

I'm not just posting this to be hard on them, I think a proper inquisition is needed, and I think someone(s) needs to be held responsible
