You are correct that mispronunciation of schedule is an American thing, it’s not acceptable though.

You are incorrect to describe it as mispronunciation.

It is the normal and correct pronunciation in the US.

Just because it is different to ours doesn't make it incorrect.

Around here cars stop in the middle of the road and drivers have conversations with each other, blocking the traffic in both directions!

I find it a nothing when drivers slow to a crawl to go into a road..

Or when they dawdle at 40 in a 60 and continue at 40 in a 30....

Esp when they have a big exec / sports car etc.

Hmm, the American pronunciation is the one that’s faithful to the Greek origin of the word. It was the French who softened it to the ‘sh’ sound and British English speakers simply copied them.

I had that with 2 taxi drivers the other day on a narrow local backstreet. I ended up using the pavement to get past them.
