When people being interviewed start their answer/response with "Look" (making it should like it's obvious and you are being daft). Often sounds like them talking down to the world and the "Look" is totally irrelevant. Yet many seem to be doing it these days.

I've always thought it sounds very aggressive. I've even heard salespeople use it when trying to sell me something.

Every response beginning “So” is just as annoying

Bus drivers who see you standing at the stop with your arm out, but don't stop.

Put a complaint in to the bus company giving time and stop location.
Over Christmas we were abandoned by Arriva in Bishop Auckland. We'd been waiting at the stop in the market place for the last number 6 from Durham to Barnard Castle (only the first two in the morning and last two in the evening run to Barny, past us in Burnthouses, the rest just go to either Cockfield, Ramshaw or West Auckland). It didn't turn up, or rather avoided the market place and went round the back as the driver had apparently thought the Christmas market closure was still in place ~ it wasn't. We had to get the one after that which only went to Cockfield and get a taxi for the rest of the journey (from Tindale as it happened as I doubted we'd get a taxi from Cockfield and the wife's phone was flat so we had to ring from her workplace). After a couple of e-mails Arriva offered to pay the taxi fare and in lieu of the fact I didn't think to get a receipt (durrr), are sending us a shopping gift voucher to the value, which is pretty good of them.
Whether you'll get any recompense will depend on whether you were stranded or just had to get a later bus, but at least the driver will get a ticking off. I have a great amount of respect for bus drivers by the way, in the order of HGV, PSV drivers they seem to be at the bottom of the pile, pay wise despite having the shittiest job.

There used to be a bus I could get home from work
we finished at 4:45 and the bus left at 5 - so I could make it most of the time
but often missed it

I found out that busses were allowed a "5 minutes either way" allowance for the times
and it looked very much like this driver liked to leave before 5 which meant that he had less passengers and thus less hassle!

Well - looked out of the window this morning and the snow has totally gone

not even any ice this morning

my first thought was "time for a ride" until I looked at the trees at the back
even the big ones were swaying in the breeze so I suspect it would be ones of those days with a constant strong head wind all the way round

An ouster clause is something that can be used in legislation but can't say I've come across it in practice.

I'm pretty sure the leeway is maximum 5 minutes late or maximum 1 minute early nowadays, being more than a minute early can obviously cause more problems with people missing their bus.

I could catch the next bus about 8 mins later, and didn't have to be anywhere on time, but the other guy at the stop was on the way to work, and had to wait half an hour for the right bus.
