I phoned the local Specsavers a few minutes ago. The one who took my call said she couldn't tell what I was saying, regarding my date of birth. She said 'I've got the six zero bit, but not the bit before'. Slightly sarcastically I said 'well, it can't be one eight as that'd make me one hundred and sixty five'. She sounded like she wanted to tell me where to go. I felt a bit bad after, but what else could it have been apart from one nine!😏

Tried to order a Crit'Air sticker for car for France.

The website is quite straighforward. You can upload an image of your V5 and pay the, moderate, fee.

(Incidentally, don't get fleeced by the firms who will "help" you to apply. The fee is about €5 but some will try to charge you £35.)

Reason for irritation?

Uploaded files may be .png or .pdf or .jpg

iPad generates a photo with the extension .jpeg, which is an acceptable variant of .jpg. Not to the French, apparently!

In the end had to resort to dusting off the flatbed scanner :cursing:

Why not just edit the file name to change jpeg into jpg?

On a pc I would have tried that. Not sure how to on an iPad.

EDIT and anyway, this thread is about things which annoy you, not about how to circumvent them…

Bliss !

Those ITV adverts for themselves "There's no place like ITV".

Well technically correct, since ITV is not a place, there won't be any places that are like it.

But not even close to correct in what they mean by it. Almost any broadcaster is "like" ITV.

I have a couple of mates who are widowers and we hang out getting a takeaway or meal out each Friday.
But there is another guy whose found out about it and wants to tag along when his Mrs is otherwise engaged. Senior management so often busy.
He then monopolizes conversation and constantly talks to about his wife which has upsetting to the rest of us....

Find out where his wife is engaged and go meet up with her. He might not be that keen to meet up with you after that.😉

Well, I did a search and then got drop down boxes, the first one being maximum and minimum price! (Chrome on Android)

You don't get those with Chrome on Windows.

Stop going out on Friday for a meal out. Tell him you're all signed up for a widowers support group that happens to be on a Friday. Go for a meal out.
