Trivial things that make you annoyed beyond expectations?

I know - she has most of the lids of the container that she had - and she had a fair few when I met her!

After I had known her for a while I had some free time at her house while she was at work and went through the cupboards and matched lids to boxes
It took me most of the day as they were all over the place but I got them all sorted and in the same place as each other
it was a bit more difficult that it should have been as a lot had been through the dishwasher - and some lids had shrunk slightly

I wish to mention that I have been informed that this never happened and they were all sorted when I met her and any that are "a very tight fit" are my fault

We use Quaker - other makes may differ

my technique is to open the proper opening on the side at the top
Then rip the side up to the top
then put the box on the side with the opening at the top and pour it out by tipping it

tends to work when I do it - but it does mean it is not sealed afterwards

Exactly what we do. Decant into a container then use from there. However what prompted my post was needed to do this morning and box never opens neatly.

I have the same problem with bags of rice. no matter how I open it, I get a v shape cut and try to pour it but half the bag goes behind the kettle

The stupid opening flaps on boxes of porridge etc. They never open cleanly and pouring out the oats inevitably means spillage.

Mine are going into a large dowe Egberts jar!

We had an infestation of weevils a few years ago which seemed to be centred on our breakfast cereals cupboard. Absolute nightmare, took a lot of effort to get rid of them. Everything kept in sealed plastic containers since then.

I once had rats in our caravan chewed almost everything plastics wood upholstery etc!😡😡

The challenge of opening the box cleanly is just another of the joys of eating porridge.

I use a knife to cut round the curved edges, then it's relatively easy to free the flap that allows you to close it once you've poured the appropriate amount.

Must admit I haven't yet resorted to my late dad's habit of eating it with a cup of milk handy to top up the bowl when you're halfway through. I resign myself to another trip to the fridge instead.
