I quite like the Defakto Inkognito. It seems to be gently taking the mickey out of all that "Aviator" stuff.

Here for rides.
I collect German Kienzle wrist watches of the 20's, 30's, 40's, and 50's.

Day to day I wear a Tissot (40th b'day present) or an Animal if going off road. Raymond Weil for formal evening occasions.

I started reading this thread as I quite like a nice watch, but the avatar watching has took over, ianrauk has gone red and its the same as mark st1, and it looks related to CarlP's avatar

I know another chap who has a few real, very expensive Rolex watches, including a rare stainless steel Daytona. He never wears them in public, he only ever has fake ones on his wrist. Car Dealer, 'nuff said.

Do you ever ask him why he bothers spending the cash on the real deal and then locks it away for best ? Or being into watches yourself do you know why ?? Seems a bit like owning a Ferrari but keeping it in the garage and driving round in a fiesta.

Does that work like a sun dial? Just one hand?
I think the hand rotates just once every twelve hours, in which case the picture shows the time to be 2:30 (ish). I'm pretty sure that somebody did a one-hander with absolutely no face markings at all.

George Daniels was a very clever man, he also developed the Co-Axial escapement found in some of the previously mentioned Omega watches

And thank god people like expensive watches or I would be unemployed....

Far too "busy" for me, I'd like an IWC though if my numbers come up, oh, and maybe a Zenith for best.

I agree, no need, but there is always a "want", just like with bikes! ^_^

I bought an 18ct Rose gold Zenith in Bicester Village about 11 years ago, nice watch, wore it a couple of times than sold it to buy a drum kit! I made £300 profit on that watch.

I did, but I can't remember the answer, he's one of these chaps who likes to own things for the sake of it.

And that is what the time always is, "ish", the large indices are the hours and the smaller ones only show 15 minute increments. I have had a couple of 24 hour watches, (the hour hand taking 24h for one complete rotation) but found them too, "at a glance", confusing.

My everyday watch is a Seiko Kinetic, had it about 15 years, nice straightforward bit of kit.

The Seiko Sportura I wear daily is only about 5 years old, a fair few hundred £'s new, yet you cannot buy a replacement bezel, they are no longer (if they ever were) available. It's a great watch for work but the bezel is now scratched badly, it's an integrated unit with the glass, 5 years old but you can't buy a spare part, last Seiko I'll ever own.
