Does anybody know any decent websites for more indepth weather reports?

Want to get out and put some miles in on a decent ride over the Easter weekend. The weather on Google and the BBC seems pretty amicable on each day but I was more concerned about the wind. Since moving to the coast it's become much more apparent everytime I've been out so if possible would like to pick a day when it's at its calmest and facing the direction that it's likely to be in my face the least amount of times

www.ventusky.com (thanks to whoever suggested that), www.weatherOnline.co.uk and www.yr.no but really they're all forecasting which is not an exact science. The Met Office reports on the BBC are legendarily pessimistic for the Wash. I don't know how good/bad they are elsewhere.

Many thanks I will check them out

Was hoping to do Blackpool - heysham at the weekend so will definitely encounter some sea breeze but hopefully can pick a day when the wind in general is at its calmest

I would suggest you will not get an in depth report of any great accuracy for weather more than 6 hours ahead. Longer term forecasts say 1/2 days will indicate trends.
Pack your oilies, so'wester, shorts, sunblock, woolly hat and scarf in your panniers and go, it's the only way:okay:

Forecast for the weekend is winds from the west, so B'pool-Heysham shouln't be too bad apart from the stretch from Lancaster to Heysham where it will be in your face, otherwiose it should be from the side, and not too strong. Its a nice ride, especially if you use the Knott end/Fleetwood ferry (Check the timetables first though)

That doesn't sound too bad should be a good weekend for it then.
Yeah there is some nice countryside to get out in round there, I have taken the ferry to knot end before but not when I had my bike with me. I think I'll take the bridge and head through hambleton on the way out but see how I am for time (and energy) and maybe get the ferry on the way back

Travelling from Blackpool, you'll have the wind of the sea until 13:30
Apparent wind is something you most certainly get on a bike.^_^

Seriously though wind is the most predictable element of the weather so most forecasting will get it right, (unlike cloud cover where they are often useless) . XCweather is good basic site for wind and direction
http://www.xcweather.co.uk/

of course if you are by the coast you will get sea breezes that will confuse the matter.
All true. Worth adding that weather reports don't take account the sea breeze. So, depending on the direction of the real wind, it can be cancelled out or added to by a sea breeze.
