Something weird going on with this thread. It says in the main forum that a post was made 22 minutes ago, yet the last one I can see is from June 10th...??

Days of Wine & Roses. Odd one this. Jack Lemmon plays a blinder, as does his co-star Lee Remick - and it picked up various awards & gets a high IMDB rating, but we found it all a bit of a let down. A Young Couple Descend Into The Pit of Hell that is Alcoholism! It was all a bit reefer-madness...hammy and OTT. And lacking in the kind of 'what happens next?' that is crucial to all good storytelling. It's all one way traffic, and even great (b/w) cinematography and acting can't save what's basically a rather overwrought morality tale that's just a bit too relentlessly inyerface from start to finish.

Repeat of history scifi drama.
There's a few holes but well made.
One thing though. If an air traffic controller deliberately rigged two planes to cross each other he wouldn't get a pat on the back and cheers, he'd be out of a job.
Keeps you involved 6/10.

The Last Jedi.
Very much harks back to the originals. Although no one does unrealistic script like Lucas. 'Take my hand and together...', 'Failure is complete' - someone switch off that bloody photocopier!!
And Snoke sounds more like a new friend in the Sooty show, not exactly got the ring of menace has it?
Nice to see an original plot line. Disappointed that it's setting up for a sequel.
Still it's a nice way to spend 2.5 hours. 7/10.

Edit#1: What's with penguin things? Was that just a merchandising thing?

Baywatch The Movie.

Woeful, dreadful, dire. Only two good things - lots of laydees in skimpy swimsuits, and every time The Rock addressed Zak Effron he'd give him a different name, like N-Sync or Boyzone.

Not a pleasant experience, even if you lift and you like seeing how swole The Rock is these days.

2/10.

The International.

A surprisingly tense and absorbing thriller with Clive Owen. Intelligent plot, all the more scary for its plausibility, and a couple of very violent scenes. You need to pay attention and watch, but we'll worth investing in some beer and Doritos and settling down to watch this one.

8/10.

The Bad Lieutenant.
Nicholas Cage going a bit barking. Iguanas, crocodile cams and a breakdancing spirit of a bad guy. Plus drugs, and a multiple murder.
All packaged in a film that looks made to create sequels. Good acting. Oh and Eva Mendes.
Don't know what to think really: 6/10.
