The Great Gatbsy.

I can see how this movie splits people's opinions like marmite, but I'm firmly of on the "like" side of the jar. I dont think I could watch it again though.

Legendary Weapons of China.

If you like cheesy budget martial arts films then this will be right up your street. There's good guys and bad guys, ridiculously over the top fight scenes, and dodgy American dubbing, definitely at the lower end of budget but considering that the alternative was Strictly then I made the right decision.

5/10.

American Pie - The Reunion.

Usual childish antics, but I like that sort of thing. Nice to see Stifler finally getting even with Finch by having relations with Finch's Mum.

5/10.

[QUOTE 5376065, member: 9609"]Tarantino's True Romance
never seen this before, really enjoyed it, can certainly see the style that went on to develop into Pulp Fiction.

One of my favourites. The "Sicilian" scene is absolutely brilliant. A lot of credit has to go to Tony Scott too, because in the wrong hands that script would have been a disaster.

Atonement, courtesy of Netflix.
Thoroughly enjoyed it, period drama, quite a touchy subject of how adolescent girls difficulty in dealing with their feelings and how their actions impact on their adult family members and friends.
A fair bit of sexual content,, revenge and lifelong regret, war and love.
It had a bit of it all.

Brick. Stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Lukas Haas in 30's Film Noir updated to a modern teen setting. Not brilliant but interesting nonetheless.

Selma. Martin Luther King, brutal cops, all that. Perfectly well done - good performances, sound script, some nice cinematography and moments of tension - but it all felt a bit too worthy and reverential to be what I'd call a really good movie. Maybe a 7...and that's erring on the side of generous in truth.

I liked it rather more than you, as it didn't fall into the laboured / mawkish / worthy trap in my view. Also, avoided the story revolving round the white folks - like Missisipi Burning, good though the latter may be otherwise.

Pretty grim times, within my lifetime, in a (loosely speaking) civillised / democrwtic country too.
