That's it you've got it👍
I think I remember this film was shown before the big premiere film at the pictures.
It was Superman or Star wars that we went to see if memory serves me right

The 1st Jaws.
Can't believe it was 50 years since my wife and I went to the cinema to watch it.
I quite enjoyed it and parts were still scary.

I remember another film they put on in the pictures before the main one called Condor man ,starring Michael Crawford and Oliver Reed.
It was totally bonkers but good to watch

‘Ship With Wings’, 1941. Swipe through the first hour and ten minutes to catch period footage of Gladiators, Swordfish et al, then watch the remainder for the glorious model work in a British carrier attack against the Italians (not Taranto).

The Banshees of Inisherin

Look-up "bitter sweet" in an Irish encylcopedia - this is it. Worthy "successor" to In Bruges (and about time!)

Great film. Couple of look away now moments, but otherwise hugely enjoyable, with some very funny moments, all very understated.

I have managed to see several bits of ‘In Bruges’, but never the whole film.

John Wick 4

Kinda fun. Could probably have been edited down to 90 minutes and been an excellent film. Don't expect anything new after the others (or indeed if you've only watched the first one!) I'd rather rewatch the first film, in hindsight.

I'd say they're the best fight scenes you'll see this year buuuuuut .. all those people being shot at point-blank range and shrugging it off stretched the suspension-of-disbelief thing just a little too much :-( Perhaps it needed to be put to bed. RIP!

I consider In Bruges to be a far better film. In my opinion though. Banshees was a bit on the slow side.
In Bruges has to be watched in it's entirety to get the full story with context.

That was pretty much my review at the time. Would have been far superior if cut down to 90 minutes. Far too much repetition.

Pretty much the same as "Ballerina" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballerina_(2025_film) a sort of spin-off film with less active appearances from John Wick (Keanu Reeves).

Get Carter

Always been a favourite of mine, but watching it again older and wiser you realise that Jack Carter is not a nice person, in fact there are very few if any main characters that have any redeeming features at all.

This doesn't make the film bad, far from it I still think it's excellent, but it's a difficult watch.

Also I was out for a drink last night, not one bar person knew what I meant when I asked for a 'thin glass'......

Get Carter and The Long Good Friday are bookends to a particular era, most of it during the 1970s. The fact that they made this social commentary through the medium of the gangster flic is commendable.
I think of it as the era that started with exposed water pipes and Ascot gas water heaters in the kitchen, and ended with universal central heating and double glazing.
