House of Dynamite on Netflix.
Quite tense (obviously given the plot) and well done but a warning - The film leaves you to decide the outcome.

I watched that a couple of nights ago. It was definitely tense, and I agree that it was well done. Scary, and unfortunately pretty believable!

Lots of people online are ranting about the ending, or what they perceive as a lack of an ending. I think that they missed the point. It should be seen as a warning, not a neat little drama with an arbitrary climax to appease the audience.

Marathon Man.

Yep, the one with the evil nazi dentist torturer.

Its not aged well, but that's not the films fault.

Roy Scheider can't be bothered and just settles for playing Roy Scheider.

Dustin Hoffman clearly cant be bothered either and settles for his usual trick or trying to out act himself.

Messy script with plot holes you could drive Accys Fiat 500 through yet somehow you want to keep on watching.

It should be a 3/10 but somehow manages a 5.5/10.

The Substance. I thought it was going to be boring, something like the devil wears prada, but I was very wrong. It is highly graphic and genuinely horrific. Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley. I've seen Qualley in other stuff and she's excellent

A film on Netflix.
Great cast, feeble storyline and plot.
Keiera Knightly, and a good recognisable cast must of done it because they needed the money.

Ballad Of A Small Player....
Netflix film starring Colin Farrell and Tilda Swinton....really enjoyed this movie, visually stunning to watch. I loved the cinematography, clothes and music.The more I watch Farrell lately I think he's class.
8/10 for me

Farrell is a funny one I think. Doesn't seem to be particularly well thought of even though he's clearly a great actor. He has been in some right pish, but his quality films far outweigh the bad. Although, Total Recall... yeesh!

He had a reputation as difficult person to work with largely down to his alcoholism, and I'd guess that his opportunities were restricted because of that.

Sobriety since 2006 has turned around and I think there's an uptick in the quality of his work since.

The remake of Total Recall probably made sense when he read the paycheck.

Yea I sort of have took him for granted myself....partner loves him but she's Irish so can't have a bad word said lol.
Loved him in the dark roles he plays such as In Bruges,The Lobster etc take a look at this latest film yourself Andy,worth a watch I'm sure you'd like it.

The Marksman

Liam Neeson has a ranch next to the Mexican border, one day a woman and child sneak through the fence in front of him.

They're running from a cartel because a family member has crossed them, and Liam kills a few of them to defend her but the mother dies in the shootout, and her last words ask him to look after her son and take him to family in Chicago.

Cue bent cops, a large body count, and a cross country chase.

Just to make it even better Liam has a faithful dog that doesn't last the whole journey.

Does he make it, and do all the baddies end up dead, what do you think? 😂

The Queen of Spades. 1949 B&W. Anton Walbrook is a right baddie trying to get the secret of winning at cards out of an aged (and cursed) Russian countess. Leslie Howard is the goodie. There's a lovely lady (the ward of the old lady) in the middle. Lots of pre revolutionary upper class rotters swanking about and being debauched, with sexy gypsies singing repetitive songs.

I really like old B&W films, partly because they are nice and short. But they struggled to fill the 90 mins with this story. From a novella by Pushkin. I'm guessing it was a pretty small novella.

Thats not his fault. There was no mention of cheesy mediocrity when he read the original pay cheque.
