Seeing Disclosure Day tomorrow. Very much looking forward to that.

Got my Imax tickets for Saturday.
Got our tickets for Saturday too, looking forward to it, though the gf is not much of a sci-fi fan 🙄

Disclosure Day.
Who doesn't love an alien conspiracy movie? Directed by Spielberg and it shows. Lots of swirling camera shots, well executed set pieces, a sweeping musical score and just a great storyline. It certainly didn't disappoint. With none of the mid movie slump which seems to dog longer movies.
Top entertainment from a very well made movie.

Its had some mediocre reviews, but I tend to disagree with the critics so would probably enjoy it.

It was a good film, I would have liked them to concentrate more on the alleged true stories out there use real footage that the US government is releasing every couple of weeks thanks to Congressional hearings and mention some of the real life whistle blowers currently putting themselves st risk by coming out.

To be fair the film was made mostly before they started releasing the latest set of footage.
But I get your point.

Last night I watched Heretic. Hugh Grant was very good.
According to my youngest daughter the 2 actors playing the young female Mormons were actually brought up in the Mormon church.

I found the reviews very odd on reflection after seeing the film, it was like they all went in with a set frame of mind of what the story should be, were unwilling to let the film tell its story in its way, and then ended up criticising it for not matching their unrealistic expectations.

and some of the critics lines they used were like copy & pasted, you could read 4 or 5 reviews and theyd be near identical phrases throughout and youre left thinking, did they actually watch this movie, did they go watch a different Disclosure Day or just get ai to write this for them.

I liked it alot fwiw

well theres alot of that footage used on the big screen wall at the Wardex place and Spielberg has said the film is inspired by all those recent events and whistleblowers. I think its right though not to mix the fictional world of the movie too closely with actual people, this wasnt a docu-drama, and because you dont want kind of what happened after CET3K where people started mixing what theyd seen in the film with real life stories, and it all became a mess to unpick.

like there are still people who say the type of aliens that people most often describe in their stories come from watching CET3K, as opposed to Spielberg made them look like that because thats what peoples testimony prior to the film had described them as looking like.

and things like Roswell were pretty front and centre by the end, and they went through a bunch of other stories too that maybe general audiences have less name recognition for or are aware of and maybe thought had just been invented to show some cool looking stuff, but I think literally every thing you saw in that last 10mins is based on an actual documented reported event like the tictac, its just they didnt show the tictac one in any detail

Project Hail Mary - For the first half hour or so I thought about switching it off as it wasn't what I was expecting. It was kind of jokes that you might possibly get in The Return Of The Jedi or some other slightly cheesy family film. Nothing wrong with that, just wasn't what I thought it would be like. Then it really picked up, I thought it was really good and pleased I stuck with it. It returns to like the start at the end a bit. Was an easy 8/10 for me, way better than I thought it would be,

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Absolute garbage. Wasn't expecting anything highbrow from Guy Ritchie but this was really poor.
Based on what is clearly a fascinating wartime true story but done in a completely over the top way. Good guys slaughter hundreds of Germans each without getting a hair out of place.
So obviously a desperate attempt to make something akin to Inglorious Basterds (even had one of the same cast members) but fell miles short.
