Another welcome return (4th appearance, I think) for The Grahams at Maidenhead's fabulous Norden Farm last night.

Last time we saw them there they were solo, this time with a (great) full band.

First live music we've managed to get to since the wife's emergency appendix episode a couple of months ago, which made us miss Lucinda Williams' tour - last night made up for that.

Just been to see The Saltburn Smugglers at Stillington village hall. North Yorkshire sea shanty’s stuff low key but very enjoyable. We wanted to see them at our local venue but they sold out within hours of the tickets going on sale.

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
Les Negresses Vertes at the electric ballroom. Fantastic evening.

As my wife put it, they are a tribute act to themselves now. And none the worse for that. They know their audience. You want the old stuff? We'll play the old stuff.

Catching up here on a couple.

Steve White Trio at Thekla Bristol. Supported by Matt Deighton who I missed due to trains, but he joined them for a track, so that pleased me.

Jaylen Ngonda at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Great gig and he got a reasonably staid audience all dancing in the early afternoon.

Next up this weekend is the Super Furry Animals ...

Courtney Pine at Ronnie Scott’s last week. London jazz geezer at his best, good audience banter and fab music, excellent band, esp. the young drummer. Think Pine is early 60s age now, super energetic and I don’t think he even broke a sweat!
