I’ve got narrow B17’s on three of my bikes

Well, I found mine to be very comfortable on my first ride. I wasn't expecting it to surpass my old Wrights saddle, which is broken in. In fact it's lovely and supple. I'm planning to share it between my bikepacking bike and tourer. If I ever cull the stable down to two bikes I'll get another

I've bought:

  • The official DJI bike mount for the action camera, along with a chest mount, a selfy stick and a DJI mic mini microphone.
  • I have also bought, sight unseen, a Raleigh 20 from about 1980

I am planning to attempt to ride the bike home from the location I've bought it from. This will be a pilot episode for a new YouTube channel.

A 'Trail Gator', a hiking rucksack, another DJI Mic Mini and a power bank.

All for the aforementioned 'recovery'.

The second Mic Mini is so I can have one charging on the power bank if need be and still use the other - I haven't got to worry about running out of battery should I ramble on too much.

The original Raleigh Twenty that inspired this, is too far gone to ride home safely. It's back brake and it's shifter appear to be missing, so some parts have been canibalised. I'm a bit concerned about how rotted the frame might be too. But, hopefully, if the freewheel is still freewheeling, I am hoping to tow it home behind the good Twenty I've also bought, which is handily located just a couple of miles away from the original Twenty. Should make for some good content.

And I'm probably giving away too many spoilers. But none of us know how this is going to turn out yet!

I am hopeful that I can use the trail gator for towing. It is intended to be used with an adult bike with 26" wheels or more and a childrens bike with wheels up to 20". However, as there's not going to be a child on the bike, assuming the bracket fits the towed bike, I've got two options to ensure the towed bike's free wheel is off the ground. One is to clamp the Trail Gator further up the towing bike's seat post. The second is to remove the front wheel from the towed bike. I'll be taking straps and bungee cords with me.

Now I just need to make sure the rucksack isn't packed too heavily. In other words, I need to gamble on the tools and spares I think I will need.

I'm actually going to pick-up the good Twenty tonight and leave it in the custody of folks who have the dilapidated Twenty, so I can have a quick look at both before I start shopping for spares.

More stuff bought for the R20 project.
  • A cheapo wheel truing stand.
  • Some Park Tool spoke wrenches ... I wrecked the el-cheapo one I had tending to some rather seized nipples.
  • Tubes and tyres - shame I can't find any Raleigh Record originals, but these are to carry as spares really.
  • A Sturmey Archer 18t sprocket and a new chain to reduce the gearing on the good Twenty
  • A spare shifter cable
  • Some NOS cotter pins complete with the Raleigh branded nuts

DCLane

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Three 11-speed KMC chains - a standard, an SL and an EL - as I was running short of spares.

Also, a pair of Dura-Ace 9000 53/39 chainrings which are for the time trial bike.
