A hardly used Elite Direto turbo trainer (note: must get rid of the others we have) that seems to be a late COVID purchase with little use

A Hutchinson Fusion 5 tyre and Ultegra 50/34 chainrings from the same seller on eBay, as the chainrings on my Merida Cyclo-Cross commuter will need changing soon.

A Bontrager Paradigm saddle.

And a turbo trainer mat as mine's got a bit damaged.

The Elite direct turbos can now all use the cog and click if you use Zwift.

After suffering with numb hands for a while and struggling to get the height of the brifters aligned on both sides I decided to buy these from Amazon.

A pair of Conti GP5000 clinchers in 32mm
I like the GP5000s on my best bike. They are 28s, which roll well and are comfy on a good surface, but they are a little harsh on our rougher local roads. I would prefer the 32s but they either wouldn't fit, or if they did squeeze in they could be dangerous - there would be so little clearance that a small gravel chipping picked up by the front tyre** could jam the wheel and throw me over the bars. I really do NOT fancy experiencing THAT again!!

** It was happening when I rode on newly resurfaced roads on my recent Forest of Bowland ride. I could hear the chippings scraping through the gap between the tyre and the fork.

Good to hear ! You’re in good company Colin - as anyone credible seemingly has these 😜🤣

I’d have gone 35mm. But I couldn’t find in clincher. And I’m told the TR (Tubeless ready) which was able to be purchased in 35mm: can be a bit of a ā€˜t^#t to get fitted. And I don’t want to be stranded or stressed.

So I - maybe slightly begrudgingly on face value (?) - ā€˜downsized’ to 32mm’s. Which I’m also now told are likely to blow-up to perhaps 34mm on the new Carbon Rims they’ll be going on.

So basically - we’ll fit and see what happens 😁

Currently deciding wether to pull the trigger on this for the Stayer All Road,

https://fairlightcycles.com/product/anraed-carbon-fork-4-0/?v=7885444af42e

Main reason is that the front Supernova can sit on the fork crown and the cables will be tidier with the internal dynamo cable routing and will be less cluttered on the bars, it also has proper mudguard mounts.

Probably wouldn't be fitted until the winter as it will need new hoses so will be a good opportunity for a full strip down and re-build, but they do seem to sell out quickly hence thinking of getting it now. .

Also going to contact Stayer to see if they have any experience or know of people using an IS to flat mount adaptor as would like to swap out the 4-pot XT for the GRX one of the All road (have a new Ultegra one to match the front for the AR).

I was going to fit 35 mm tyres to my Devon gravel bike, which has loads of tyre clearance, but its narrow Aksium rims are only rated to 32 mm so I opted for 32s.

Those tyres are Bontrager Hard Case Lite AW3, which are available in 35s. I didn't have any problems fitting them, but it depends on the specific tyre/rim combination.

I had one tyre/rim combination on my best bike which was so bad that it once took me over 30 minutes to fix a puncture at a remote roadside on a blazing hot day in a Spain! I was getting in a panic because it was pre-moblile phones and I was a long way from the nearest village and my cycling shoes had big plastic cleats unsuitable for walking.

I have been really pleased with the comfort levels from those biggish tyres.
