Quick look at the Stayer all road as the rear was flat ;couldn't see anything obvious so pumped it up to see how it goes.

After an hour still ok so will leave over night.

One of my floor pumps had a blockage in the pump head, no air passing through at all.
So, good old Mr RJ to the rescue once more with a vid on how to disassemble the head

Once apart, small bit of wire poked into the hole to dislodge some crud in there, then reassembled, and now works a treat.

I’m always fettling with something on the bike but all that will change when I find out where this bike shop is. They will get all my work even if it’s just checking the tyre pressure…..

What was supposed to be a quick check of the Faran ended up including washing the Grepp bar tape, cleaning the Cambium saddle (with a bar of Schwalbe soap!),cleaning out the inside of the mudguards and treating them with some protective oil (some old Silkolene stuff I have), clearing out some crap from the rear mech and chain and finally re-wrapping the bar tape.

Not been as clean as this for a while.

Since a lighter 700C wheelset replaced the 40+ year old touring 27" set, and with better tyres, the 531 has been transformed.

Latest fettling:
  1. Reset the angle of the Sakae handlebar, which brought the brake levers slightly higher.
  2. Same for the B17 - now doesn't have that slight feeling of trying to pitch you forward. Seat post is a twin bolt J.P. Routens - originally on the bike - a cool design that's really easy to adjust.
Simple work - but made a fair difference. Test ride this morning - all good.

p.s. Kudos to Suntour for the mostly unregarded ARX GT derailleur - fabulous gear changing. Another original component, date coded 1983 - overhauled last year.

Started slapping together 🙄 some bits I found in the loft…..**The Skyway 24” build has begun

48 spline (Non Pinch) United V3 cranks were time consuming to get right. I’ve beaten a few problems today though 👌

Apart from ‘quick release’ part of the front caliper which will need removing as it fouls on the thread / nut of the Odyssey Clear compound brake pads. And the centre bolt is fractionally short. So a rear has been ordered.

Real happy with how it’s looking so far….😁
