I would give him a lot more credit, although the weight may help I doubt that much. Races cross from 14 to 50 and regardless of bike I was always racing the same guys each week.

Nah. One thing we definitely know that boys and young men do not do, that is grow taller and stronger as the years go by.

I've had several good results but if I can only choose one it has to be this 1988/89 Raleigh Gemini hybrid with Reynolds 531 frame. Apart from the tyres now, I reckon everything else on it is exactly how it left the factory 30 years ago and must be very low mileage because of the excellent condition. It rides lovely and it cost me the princely sum of £20.
