Making my way slowly uphill
... I prefer to bake or make something to take with me, like the homemade flapjacks pictured below. I rode mostly alone, so don't often stop and eat on the go.

Any recipes or ideas for any other alternatives to bananas for longer rides?

I don't really bother with eating on the bike if I'm riding sub three hours. Occasionally I'll take a gel, just in case but rarely would I expect to need it. The only time I'd eat is on a social ride with mates when one of the aims of the ride is to stop at a coffee shop. If you've had breakfast and our lunch, you should be able to do 2 or 3 hours just using fluids.

You don't have to buy pork pies. The one in my avatar is one I made myself. It's a bit of a fiddle though, so I only make them for Christmas.

My cooking/baking skills don't stretch to that sort of pastry! 😀 I have tried cinnamon rolls and pizza rolls but always open to more experiences. Try everything once (except Morris Dancing and incest)
