Would be great to stay in Ryokans every night on a tour of Japan and sit in a hot spring after a long ride. Cannot imagine a better recovery. You are never too far from a convenience store too for snacks/drinks. Would be great but could be very hilly. The main roads don't look cycle friendly there though, most cyclists pootle at a snail's pace on the pavement which would be boring.

I'd be cycling and only know about the road/ track after the ferry. I thought the area either side was dangerous due to unexploded bombs or something.
I was thinking about the rest of the route further south. Are you going to be on a road bike or mountain bike?

i am 60 in 15 mths. If Covid and all other factors allow I plan to do trans-USA (Eastern express from Washington DC to Colorado, then Trans Am to Oregon) or as an alternative London to Istanbul or possibly the other way round. Aiming to leave around Easter time.
