I am going on the club run this sunday as my coach said he wants me out in a group more than on my own but i am undecided what bike i should take as they will be grit on the roads i don't want to clean the cervelo again but don't want to be dropped on my bh

Does the bike really make that much difference?
And is life too busy to spend 10 minutes babywiping the Cervelo?

Never had an issue myself. Not one of my bikes has ever seen soap and water. He said it would be a little gritty not filthy dirty and wet

Take the Cervelo, and if you're antsy afterwards and it's been a mucky day, give it a wash. Bikes do wash, it'll be fine. Ask the pro mechanics on Bastogne-Liege or Paris-Roubaix.

I admit that I used to be a "summer bike" sort of bloke until this year, and then I saw some wry comments on here around glass cases, and overprotection, and how you should just ride your bike for heavens' sakes. So I'm now pushing on into the winter on my "summer" road bike, and it's not dissolving yet; In fact it looks superb.

Sometimes, you just need to make your own decision, based on your own gut feel. This is one of those times. Let us know what you decide.

Grit on the cassette chain and derailleur. Can wipes reach in the hard to reach bits?

Lots of hot soapy water (and an old paint brush) reach all bits.

The mantra has to be get out and ride what you want, whether it's a Cervelo or Raleigh, winter or summer, it doesn't matter. If the bike is messy after a while (or even after a single ride if you're the nervous type), just wash it. All bikes will take a wash without complaining.

My coach wants me to club ride more you must be good don't worry about which bike to take just get out there and enjoy the ride but I would not mention coaches to much just get on the front and just bury yourself for a few miles come home with a dirty bike and a big grin job done
