I like living here. I love the town where I live, and the people here.I'm part of it, and it's part of me now.
But as so many others have said - this is a big world, and there are so many ways to live, places to go, people to meet etc.

I plan to travel when the time is right - in about 5 years time, but keep my base here.
Best of both worlds, I think.

I've kind of emigrated, but don't have a permanent base (Oslo) at present (although that'll be changing soon).

Have lived in Sweden for 14 years and Norway for five, but would jump at the chance of emigrating to Australia (Sydney or Perth).

France, Greece, Holland and possibly Spain would be good places to end up, and possibly eastern Asia.

I need/want sun and warmth for my bones when I get (even) older.

I'm off when I graduate in 2011.

I have said before that my future is not here in UK PLC.

Looks like it will be either France or SE Asia (Thailand probably)

I emigrated when I was 5!

I was born in the UK but we moved to New Zealand when I was 5. I returned to the UK at 21. I've never known what nationality I am and have not really formed any particular deep allegiance with either country. I'd been to 4 different schools by the time I was 10, had lived in 6 different houses. I lived in 12 different flats during my time in London. I've also lived and worked in the USA and in Germany for 2 years...I found neither difficult to adjust to or appreciate. All in all, I reckon it's fair to say I'm not afraid of moving; moving must be in the blood!

I live in France now.... with absolutely no urge to move anywhere else

In answer to the question, and to be slightly pain-in-the-arse/pernickety, I live where I live and never "elsewhere"!

When I retire, I really , really, really want to move somewhere else, preferrably somewhere with a decent climate, and somewhere where the Politicians have the b*lls to admit they are bent, rather than trying to con us into thinking they are honest hardworking servants of society.

Sadly Mrs M will not even entertain the thought of living in say, Italy, France or even Spain including the Balearics.

My explanation that the kids would have on tap holidays holds no water.

Why the hell would anybody want to live in Australia? It's too hot, too dry, full of yobs and you can't go for a walk without worrying about something biting you or even eating you.

I wouldn't mind Jamaica.

Maybe when the kids have left (chuck them out when they're 18).

I can see myself on a beach with jerk pork roast and a bottle of dragon stout before retiring to my cabin in The Blue Mountains for the evening.

Don't be taken in by the touristy images. Jamaica is a third world country and my brothers were very grateful to have our Jamaican relatives (who were armed) to act as talismen against bandits and ne'er-do-wells as they travelled around the backwaters. There were a few hairy moments and they could only truly relax behind the walls of holiday complexes.

Despite having over 500 acres of family estate in Jamaica none of my five brothers have shown any inclination to want to live there and I have no inclination to travel there - ever.

Only place Mrs Pm has said only place she would emigrate to is Holland. Have been holidaying there for awhile and love the place. Never going to happen due to family / friends
I've seen bits of a large amount of countries, well ports actually. and lived in Canada with a girl for a bit. My job means I could actually live pretty much anywhere with a half decent airport nearby - just somewhere to get a flight to the next ship.

you know, i really could be one of those people who move to some remote part of the world and live off the land in some sort of self sufficient way.

i really would not miss "most" people

Well, as some of you know, I left the UK many years ago and Canada -- particularly BC -- is hard to beat for its stunning geography, native cultures and open spaces..

Still, sometimes I long for somewhere with a bit more civilized urban culture -- maybe, if I won the lottery -- an apartment in Paris!

Bin there done that. Are you sure you're up for the back-breaking labour that involves. It's not all romance, I can assure you.
