The last time I checked a Quantum kit car came in around £500-1000 fully comp for a 17 year-old: http://cars.aol.co.uk/2014/09/08/young-drivers-could-save-thousands-on-insurance-with-kit-car/

Are classic cars still cheap for newbies? My lad takes his test in August and I fancy a Mk1 MX5..............

My first car was a Ford Anglia 105e (The Harry Potter car) back in 1992. I think I paid less than £200 as a 17 year old. I remember the insurance doubled to £400 a year later when I moved to a Fiesta 950cc.
