Guessing my name is a clue. Allegedly born at home ( don't remember ) so can't even claim I was the child of a millionaire and swapped at hospital. Luton being the Beds version, not Kent nor Devon

Born and dragged up in Liverpool. Lived all over the place, tragically resulting in my oldest daughter speaking with a Hillingdon accent for her formative years. She has, luckily, made a full recovery as she is now 29.
Came back to Scouseland in 2003, as I was at a bit of a loose end; still here.

Aye the town hall remains as impressive as ever, and along with Le Man's Crescent behind it they're both still popular with film productions. The last one I can recall was in Peaky Blinders.

As for future destination's we have friends on Orkney so that's a definite on the list, but it's all pie in the sky whilst older dependant's remain dependant ^_^
The market, despite not looking it at all from the outside, is also pretty good. And one other thing bolton has going for it is its proximity to the fine city of manchester. Tend to think i'd think carefully about shipping out to the orkneys permanently. Not of course near anything.

I was born in a maternity hospital between Stafford and Stoke (Tittensor). Grew up in Stafford and lived there for over 30 years. Had a great childhood but have no desire to go back.

Down a little rabbit hole .... I wonder what the most reused name is in the world? My guess (in the English speaking world) would be Richmond. Wikipedia lists 57 Richmonds including 3 in Michigan and 3 in Pennsylvania, and an additional 6 New Richmonds.

And which city should get the "credit"? I expect most of the overseas ones were named for Richmond Upon Thames, which was named for Richmond, Yorkshire.

Personally I can't stand Manchester TBH, never been entirely sure why but suspect its a size thing.

I'm far happier away from hustle, bustle, students and hipsters ^_^

It's a bit more complicated than that...

Named after, since they are British towns.

This website, which seems to be polling the google maps databse in some way, claims 60 Richmonds. It also claims 253 Santa Marias. Add in a few translations (St Mary's, Ste-Marie, Marienstad) and that must have a decent claim to being the most common name. Others I'd look for would be Newcastle/Neuchatel/Chateauneuf and all the many, many variations on Alexandria/Iskanderia/Kandahar - Alexander the Great was nothing if not self-regarding, and named a lot of settlements after himself.

And how many are Londoners and don't want to admit it?

Genuine londoners are pretty rare these days.

:okay:

Born in Beckenham which was originally in Kent but then became a London borough. So I call myself a Londoner. And very proud of the fact too. Born to my mum who was a true cockney and my dad who was born in Southwark.
