A baby blackbird...
Linda next door knocked, fledgling in hands, asked if we could put it in our garden, her cat has just brought it in, although seemingly uninjured.
Put it in a box in the garden, hopefully mum will be nearby. Eventually it popped out the box, half an hour later fluttered across the garden and started chirping.
Mum soon arrived and started finding worms for it, like a busy little bee.
Hopefully it will make it through the night....without unwanted attention from cats

Mum spent most of the day in the nest today. It looks like her other half is delivering her food.

I dragged myself out of bed at 5.30 to go and see cuckoos up at Burrator. As soon as I was out of the van I heard and saw one, fleetingly.

There were a few calling off in the distance and the occasional one in flight.

There were skylarks and meadow pipits a plenty.

It was a dull day and I had stuff to do, so after a couple of hours I wandered back to the van.

I found treasure!

A discarded antler!!!

I stopped at the swamp, sundews just emerging
