two completely different styles but two fantastic players.

Les Claypool from Primus, no question. An utterly joyeous lunatic who plays his bass like a lead instrument. Once auditioned for Metallica but was rejected for being 'too good'. Now that would have been a very different band.

Noel Redding managed the transition with some success...
As did Ronnie Wood although he went back to Guitar.

Norman Watt-Roy, as well as being the current best bass guitarist alive (although Paul McCartney would have a say on that) is also the sweatiest man I've ever seen. He must go through some suits when he's on tour!

I'm a guitarist turned bassist, and I'm finding the transition straightforward,if not downright easy.

I should try bass too, ive always struggled with 6 thin strings..
Nearly bought a bass guitar a couple of yrs back then got a total frozen shoulder.. Still causes me grief when holding a guitar.

Or sensible answer: Bootsy Collins. I'm not a huge music fan but Parliament were bonkers and P Funk is brilliant.

On a Lemmy related note I saw Philthy Animal Taylor in the street in Clapham in about 1982 ish. I didn't recognise him, but my mate did. He was looking in an estate agent's window.
