Ouch sorry to here that, was it a blue bmw, he tried to kill me last week; my language was a little blue but it go his attention at the last minute. I felt I had to apologise to the ped on the other side of the junction.

Silver series 7 in Springfield, I think the people watching the youths football match may have been distracted by some of the choice words screamed at the flash w@nk*r.

Ice on the knee and a glass of the water of life to aid my recovery.

A nice, pleasant, calm 45-minute ride to work this morning. Crisp, breezy air at 5:30 am woke me up a little. Unfortunately, as soon as I sat by my desk, I felt sleepy again and my brain went so numb I forgot to sign in for work and got a call from the Head Office asking if everything's OK and if I'm there :becool:
Got my lights sorted, too. Tried the blinking mode on the front light, but it felt weird, so I switched to constant and found it way better.
BTW, is it just me, or is there always head wind on London Bridge, no matter which way you're going?

Long loop toward the east of the island with a nice tailwind out. It was a hot 28 degrees with deep blue, cloudless skies. 51 miles in 3 hours 17 minutes at 15.5mph. About an hour from home, deep in the countryside, I was staring to slow into the inevitable headwind when a young girl riding a rusty 10 speed Canadian relic overtook me with a backward smile. Just the encouragement I needed. A 200 yard gap quickly appeared then I tried to close it. She was a little plump, wearing flappy T shirt and shorts but clearly had great strength and try as I might I couldn't catch her. Over 15 miles I got quite close a few times but fell back again as we approached Charlottetown. Thanks for giving me someone to chase, mystery rider and well done for a strong ride.

82 kms (51m) through South Glos. Some pics:

Very Windy up here, so went off and did 17 miles or so on the MTB in 1.27.... - on to Trans Pennine, down towards Reddish Vale, back up alone another route, back on TPT, up to Godley, Werneth Low, down some mad technical descent into Compstall, then a road climb back home.

Over 1300 ft of ascent - all local....and just for Auntie Helen.........

Took half a day off to do one of the flatter, shadier routes. Was stopped by a French driver for directions to a place and actually knew where it was! Saw another cyclist on a Bianchi neither of us trying very hard (temp c.33c in the shade) but might have overtaken him if he hadn't reached home first:sad:

Later, passed a barn fire (note gathering of large crowd), as if things weren't hot enough.. Thanked god I wasn't a Sapeurs Pompiers.

Although they had a water tanker they were also pumping from a lake to the annoyance of the fish.

she was probably a member of the local elite triathlon club :biggrin: you've let us all down Virgo. Next time you'd better catch her up as we all want a picture ;)

A quick 10 mile hilly TT blast today. I've lacked motivation to get out on the bike lately. i knew if I didn't promise myself a short ride I'd find an excuse not to go out. Soo I did a hilly fast 10 to try to assuage my guilt. No idea of time cos although I have a wireless computer I still haven't got a sensor and mount because of the bluddy postal strike .!
Thanks a lot posties

How is your mileage coming along ? tried any road routes yet ? I expect there should be some charity rides round your neck of the woods like heart foundation or cancer or other charity rides. Great social rides with a worthwhile cause as well.

GPS Stats: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/11248712 114.69 miles @ 18.6mph Avg.
Was tough very wind, tailwind at first, then when it starting getting hilly we had to tackle a long 5+% section followed by 15-20% in heavy rain and headwind, was tough as hell, for the first 50miles we were averaging nearly 21mph but the wind and hills brought it down to 17 and then the tailwind brought it back up to 18.6.

For the first 70 miles I was going good with the other three riders not really being able to keep up, but it slowly started to go the other way and I bonked slightly, I think it was lack of food but oh well, 2 mars bars allowed to cane it the last 2 miles, I then stopped the timer and did rode around at under 10mph waiting for my heart rate to go under 110 then went home and stuffed my face with pasta and pizza.

Next week on Sunday setting off at 7:30 from exibition square in York is the Tan Hill Challenge Clifton CC does, so anyone in York come along, there is 3 groups I think going for different abilities, see Clifton CC for more info, 140 odd miles, be 160 for me and I think around 11,000ft or something of hills.

30 mile leg loosener / biker check for tomorrows audax out of Forfar. Let the rain blow over before venturing out on a flat loop, just after lunch time. Wind was blusterly mainly from the south so at least it was warm. Lots of Buzzards sitting on fence posts, a couple of Red Kites being annoyed by a mob of Crows and some highland cattle being moved from a field back to the farm.

The run home was excellent 22 mph for 10 miles, facilitated by the southerly wind and the need for a mug of tea.
