Tuesday, I rode from St Malo 112k down to stay with friends & watch the Paris-Brest-Paris riders going through. I had an errand - handing new bank cards to one of them.
Wednesday was something like 40k to the route and see the riders.
Thursday was a 144k invitation ride with the Ernée Randonneurs.
Friday I rode back to St Malo, hotel for the night, and I'm on the ferry home today.
About 260 miles in total. It was good to be involved even if I wasn't riding the event this time.

A Saturday triathlon!

7 miles of dog walk
15 miles of cycling
30 minutes sea swim

I rode along the bridleway from Preston, after last night’s rain it was surprisingly dry. Then up Alston Hill and along the coast to Battisborough. From there it was up to Wilburton where I saw a lucky bloke and his ladies. Back via Bull and Bear.

45 miles in total today
met up with a long time ride mate who i haven't seen in a long time as he gave up for a while after a bad slip on ice when walking but he couldn't stay off the bike permanently  so he has been doing solo rides for a few months so i offered to give him a bit of company .
This bloke is called Phil the Hill for the reason he is about 9 stone wet through and in his prime could drop anyone when the road pointed up , hes 7 years older then me and even after his hiatus he was holding my wheel on the hills .
We did about 28 miles to the cafe at fradley junction then just as we were about to set off the rain came down so we waited for the cloud to blow over before riding home through wet lanes so even though it was dry we ended up with soggy behinds as we were on summer bikes with no guards .
Finally made it home as it started to thunder and the rain came down again.

Sunday club ride this morning with a planned route that would have given me around 65 miles but just as i left the house it started raining  , if it had been raining earlier i would have canned it as i dont like cold and wet with my circulation.
Went to the meeting point and 2 were already a no show so we decided to do a shorter ride to merica marina, the club founder turned back after a few miles as his seat post kept slipping so we plodded on getting nicely damp ;)
The cafe was only about 15 miles from the start but with the weather we had had enough by then and we were glad of hot coffee and a chance to dry out a bit, i was the only one with mudgaurds so i wasnt too bad but everyone else had soggy seats .
Setting back homeward bound from the cafe we slogged on and at least the rain stopped and we got back and i offered to go around again but they declined pfft !
40 miles in total

A nice 50 mile ride into Kent this morning with @rb58 . Decided on a short distance ride as the predicted forecast was for rain of biblical proportions this afternoon. Still waiting for it to arrive though, not here yet.
But, as I don't usually get out of bed for any ride less then a hundred miles, a shorter distance mileage wise made for a very pleasant change.

A successful day dodging showers! I thought I was going to be soaked a few time on my ride today but thankfully every time it never came to anything prolonged. The worst it got was the cafe stop at Lyndon near Rutland Water (its a bit grey/cloudy in the pictures) and I thought it was wise to put the gilet on, but by the time I to Rutland Water its self, 15mins later, the sun was splitting again and it was too hot with the gilet.

Riding a Via Verde built on an old train track. Climbing 1500 ft very gradually. Now in one of the national parks. Ended up quite burnt as the strong winds today made me think it was cooler than it was

Less than a mile away from lodge rain hammers down turned around and rode home.

Dried off and walked the dogs who were off lead and came barreling towards me and knocked me over into a bog! Karma!!

Nice work folks - envious of those capable of covering the big miles!

My cycling week's been pretty subdued due to chronic tiredness / generally being a bit broken in many ways and having a lot to do. Had three pleasant commutes on the Brompton earling in the week and did a couple of short utilty rides on the Fuji a couple of days ago (culmination in a persistant puncture that's entirely the result of my own stupidity)...

Saturday saw a mate's birthday picnic in uni parks, so another excellent excuse to use the Brompton on account of the usual traffic and parking issues. Some friends drove in and parket pretty close in the city centre - paying over £16 to park on-street (which tbh I'm a little surprised they managed at all)

Despite the sketchy forecast and ever-looming clouds the rain miraculously held off and a good time was had by all; my mood as always bouyed by the little bike ride to get there

Lovely nearly 100km with Mrs T on the tandem.

Epic fail on the café front: first a bit too early for lunch, second no gluten free grub (except what turned out to be an excellent emergency slice of cake), third shut on Mondays. Ended up eating at a painfully trendy pub (menu: "Grillology") but decent grub tbf.

The extra large water bottles turned out to be surprisingly useful on a cool grey day - you can fit a *lot* of damsons in them!

As the industrious self employed I worked today, though I didn’t push myself as I tweaked a muscle in my lower back on Friday, that’s why I didn’t go for a ride on Sunday.

So after work I did 14.5 miles down through Creacombe and on through Flete, continuing up to Pamflete, then home via Creacombe.

Little egret, cormorant, redshank, oystercatcher an curlew spotted.

Crikey, only a week and a day since it last moved the Defy had another outing; this time 50km passed. Initially the same route as the last one, which being a bank holiday meant overtaking standing traffic in Killinghall and onwards towards Ripley where some event was drawing the crowds. I opted for the Nidderdale Greenway for the final approach to Ripley; in the village car park avoiding wandering pedestrians my way ahead was suddenly a narrow strip of land between two pot holes which was successfully negotiated. Thereafter looped pass Brearton and on through Scotton and Lingerfield where the old car of the day passed – a 1958 MG

Scriven and surburban Knaresborough lead me to Little Ribston where I paused for a snack. The tail wind ensured a procession of PRs through North and Kirk Deightons to Wetherby. Turned west and a procession of climbs with the odd down grade to, through Sicklinghall and beyond.

North west to Kirkby Overblow and another snack break before tackling the climbs around the west side of Harrogate culminating in the highest point of the ride.

32.28 miles 1923ft climbed 13mph avg
