Has anyone else noticed a massive uptick in intrusive advertising on YouTube recently?

I use the site quite a bit, and it is getting to the point of being unusable. I suspect it’s deliberate to push users to a premium service.

Is there any way around it. I watch via an iPhone or iPad.

Very much so... until I DID subscribe to the premium service!

I am sure that there will be tricks to cut the ads out, but I use YouTube a lot and I think it is fair that video creators get paid for what they do so I don't mind coughing up. (YouTube gives 55% of the total subscription revenue to creators, their individual shares based on viewing figures.)

The thing that still irritates me is creators slipping "and now, a message from our sponsors" in. I almost always skip those bits.
