Anybody do track cycling? I've been meaning to try it for ages. May ask HID for https://www.derbyarena.co.uk/get-involved/news/derby-arena-gift-bag/ as an Xmas Pressie.

I do my ToL 2PM (12 o'clock UK time). There suppose to be pace enough in A group, over 600 riders so far and overall over 1100 riders in that event.

For these mass start events I find it best to log in early (ToW was at least 20 mins before start) and get to the front of the starting pen, that way stating in with the lead pack for as long as possible and avoiding being dropped early and stuck in someone’s sticky draft at 2wkg ^_^

Sound as a good plan. I keep everyone behind my sticky draft

I'll probably aim for 10 mins before. Blast out the pens then settle down after 3-4 mins. Find a group and see if I can cruise along in their draft at about 200 watts. Power up the little inclines to stay in group, but not planning to work too hard tonight. ^_^

My wife got me the same thing last year but I never got round to using it due to work

exact same here. By the time I thought about booking up the time limit had come and gone...

I commute on a track bike and there is a bit of a learning curve. For me it was coming up to potholes or other obstacles and automatically trying to freewheel as I manoeuvre them.
I’ve never actually gone over the handlebars but I have come close a couple of times. I dare say if you sign up for a taster session the walk you through it. Shouldn’t be too many pot holes or pedestrians on a track either which is a bonus!

I used to ride a fixed bike quite a lot, so that bit will be okay. Not used to no brakes though

Also, I assume no cleats - so is it clips/straps?
