I wasn't expecting such a hard start either- brutal! I actually think the ZRL race starts have calmed down a bit recently so it really took me by surprise!

Yeah I kept going off too fast at the start of the ZRL league. I think maybe it’s because we were in a league that is probably closer to the bottom of the B category than the top?

It’s the fact that in previous meet up races we haven’t gone full gas. I guess historically it was mainly because of the quirky nature of the old meet up spawning system. But rolling out kept the group together for longer too.

Have to be fair to zwift, it is so much better now though isn't it? Waited long enough for them to deliver it but effectively private racing.

I thought we might hold together a wee bit longer, I think with the early climb it was always going to splinter

To be honest, I've seen you loosing that wheel as I was still behind you at the time. Decided to sprint a bit and bridge to the group past you and that was that - never saw you again which was a big surprise.

My heart aches for you matey, it really does

Top tip for next races - stick to @mjd1988, same average wattage and over 3 minutes quicker - mastery in racecraft.
Yep - raced with Micheal for a fair few years now ... a master racer with a massive sprint!

@alex_cycles you must have had a really strong solo finish. Peter and I had almost a minute on the group behind with a few KM to go and you really slashed the deficit!
I love shortish sprint climbs about half a km. My only KoM on Strava fits that description. So it would have been rude not to. The feather helped too . I was finished after that, but it was all downhill from there so just managed to keep it at ~50kmh to maintain the gap.

It was a full out 30s sprint effort to close the gap and just as we got back in touch the road turned upwards and ye were gone in the blink of an eye
I didn't last that much longer and expected to drop back to your group - I was aware how hard I was working to stay in the group and I'd pay for it later, but luckily when I did pop Rich was a solo rider behind me, then Micheal got dropped from the front group and sat up so we ended up as a 3-some (oo-er mrs). Looking at the w/kg of the 3 of us, I think we can all see who did the work in the group and who didn't

I think the best I can give zwift is to say that after years of people screaming out for the feature they finally delivered it. Still have no idea why they drag their feet for so long over everything but anyway…

I agree It’s a ton better though. It’s great all starting together on the line isn’t it. And also really cool seeing such strength in numbers. Cyclchat races are in great shape at the moment, even if I’m not! 😄

Makes sense. Peter and I were playing silly buggers at less than 2w/kg at the end. Still amazing how quickly you cut that gap though!

Is there a way of doing away with power ups for these races? Partly bitter as I didn’t get any until near the end. But mainly because they’re shite?

Ah just wheelsuckingand supertucking really. Very similar to a race last season, me and @Whorty drafting then attacking each other on the climbs, dropping Rich then him coming back like the terminator. Was surprised to get a gap up the last incline after Carl attacked, saw he was either suffering or waiting for Rich and then TT'd as hard as I could. Big gap to the guys ahead though
I forgot how long that last climb was - I thought I had the legs to get over the top, as I knew it was pretty much all down hill from there so if I could get a little head start I might be able to hold you off, but I didn't quite have the legs. Blew up just before the top.

I knew you'd then gone so I was watching Rich behind and doing enough to hold him off.

Couldn't drop him until that last climb though ... as you say, Rich was like the Terminator. We'd both push hard up the hills, get a gap, and he'd TT back to us. Really strong ride from him and 100% someone you want in the TTT team as he has an excellent steady pace (that you and I sat behind lol)

I could feel you three behind me the whole way, it was torture, thought you would catch me and the last thing I wanted was to have to sprint against you or Michael as you’re both ridiculous in that department.

Legs are cooked now

Yep, plan was to try and stick with you and win the sprint. Then @alex_cycles dropped a feather and as he was pulling away zwift froze. When I got back on you and @IrishAl were 7/8 seconds up the road. I really needed more than a 4 second lead at the top of Pot Bank to make it stick.
You had 4 seconds lead at the top of Pot bank, but thankfully I had an aero helmet , and with Al chasing, I was able to latch onto him.
I really thought you were my target

. I disregarded Alex's efforts, thinking he was done for.

I wont be doing that again, ;)

Not long at all from my perspective  Yeah, give credit where it's due: This IS sooo much better than those fuzzy meetups.

I feel great - could have gone harder :boxing:

I was sure that once you was dropped from the lead group the 3 of us would be able to chase you down, but you actually pulled out a further lead. Very strong tonight Tim :notworthy:
