Advice on cycling around St Austell

Hi
we are going on holiday in Cornwall, Lower Sticker (very first British holiday!) and we are planning to take our MTBs with us. I keep reading that is very much short steep heels.
I also read about a few trails like the clay trails and another which I forgot the name!!!
Do you know of any other good local rides, and can you let me know if is worth carrying the extra lugguage just for these rides or can we ride around the local area as well? Could we get from St Austell to the local beach by bike for example??

Thanks

You can easily get to the local beaches like Charlestown and Porthpean, Pentewan and around to Mevagissey etc. Whilst the main route thru St Austell can be pretty busy, once on the minor roads traffic isn't a problem at all, and they aren't really that hilly, tho I guess its relative.

Inland there are plenty of trails around the old china clayworks and further afield you can do Bodmin -> Wadebridge -> Padstow on the Camel Trail.

Have fun!
