Hi all,
I've done running as my main physical activity most of my life. Now trying to combine with cycling and finding the bike actually tougher than running!!
Other runners felt the same?

Not here! I’ve been running since 1981and used to do the longer stuff. The onset of chronic anaemia put shot to any long runs so I got myself a Brommie. Mrs T was a “ proper “ cyclist, LeJog and stuff like that. On the bike I pedal intermittently and let my legs recover a bit, with running you need to keep on keeping on so there’s no respite.

I have done a lot of running, and find cycling easier, but I never stopped cycling a little during my heavy running years.

Conversely I was a cyclist first and look up running much later. I find the former easier. For example you still need to run on a downhill but don’t always have to on a bike.

Park run this morning hard work still off the pace I want to be. Wore trail shoes and Ron hills so that's 30s off!! Also mind wasn't on the right place so that's another 30s!!

A mate of mine got some of those really expensive running shoes with the carbon plate inserts. He’s not the lightest of runners 🤔

Local parkruns were all cancelled this morning as it’s slippery under foot. ☹️

My local Parkrun, Pomphrey Hill was cancelled this morning so did the Chipping Sodbury one, mainly on gravel paths so ice wasn't an issue, icy cold nonetheless !

Just under 30 minutes.... 29:47 👍

Nice one, I only recently started it and have only done three so far.

Started off at 37.24 on the first and have got down to 34.02 by the third. So this Saturday's target will be sub 34!.

Really is a great motivator as I find I am now forcing myself into more training during the week to try and improve each Saturday (I know there will be a plateau eventually)

The less said about yesterday's Parkrun the better.

First time I had done the "alternative course" and not my cup of tea.

The course I had done previously is 90% tarmac, 10% cross country. Today's was circa 65/35 and some of the wet mud was nigh on impossible to run through causing "traffic jams" where people had to stop.

The up side, a six second improvement on last week's time.
