I am a bit confused as I went to lbs they offered me the madone 2.1 for 1k that would be fitted for me all included in the price, however the 2.3 was better specced at £1150 , I looked at the boardman team with 105 but it didn't feel right! They also offered the team carbon with tiagra for £1k. I have heard that giant are rubbish for delivery and aftercare/ warranty isn't that good so that is putting me off I currently ride a specialized Sirrus and love it and warranty work done on it was without a problem. But I want a dropped bar bike as I am planning to do London to Paris in 24 hrs next year and a couple of tri's so indeed something that can cope with that without having to start spending out on upgrades after I have bought the bike....

The Zerts for one! The wonky seat post! The bent top tube! That damn ugly chainring!

Spooky - I was going to say all that except for the Zerts inserts.

That is a pretty ugly bike imo.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. All manufacturers have to offer a comprehensive warranty to stay competative. Looks like your current bike would get you to Paris OK.

Re Specialised 'debate'.

They do stand out as being a tad miserly on the spec' front and I do find it strange that they are so far out of kilter with the rest of the world of bike manufacturers.

People seem to accept this for reasons already stated and I guess it comes down to personal choice and what is important for different buyers.

It would be interesting to see how far they could push things though - I've seen a £1500 Spesh with Sora on - maybe for 2014 they'll be Claris equipped! I wonder if that would be a step too far?

Well said - there's some absolute codswallop spouted on the web.

I have a Giant, it came really well equipped for the price and has a lifetime frame warranty.
