We sold a 308gts in 2007 for £25,000 the car would easily make £85,000 now, that would have been worth storing. A crystal ball would be helpful at times.

Or my Mk2 Escort Ghia, that I sold for £300 in the early 90's and was quite pleased to have doubled my money on it with a bit of fettling.
Good ones are going for £10k+ now...mind you, if I'd put it in storage back then I'd probably just have 4 wheels and tyres and a pile of rust now!

Given you can get a TRICE QNT into a Smart car. It's all a matter of how much work you want to do in folding/disassembling the bike!

Inside's a challenge, but Porsche does an OE roof rack for bikes.

MrsP's poverty spec Dacia Sandero cost under £6K new. First MOT due this year and it has given trouble free service thus far. Easily carries two racked bikes. We're looking to upgrade to a poverty spec Dacia Duster come the new year.

Insert witty title here
My Citroen C5 - 56 plate, with 1.5 dci engine, fits two large road bikes in the boot with the seats down, and two track bikes plus rollers AND one rear seat passenger on the way to Newport every Saturday. It also returns a constant 52 plus mpg.

Also, it makes me a 'proper cyclist' since it's worth way less than my bike (I paid £900 for the Citroen). I used to be into cars, but now much prefer to prioritise bikes. Also I always hated French cars, but don't mind the C5 at all. So long as it fits my bikes in, and costs me pennies, I'm happy. It's overdue a belt change, but I'll probably just wait till it stops working and bin it. It even has bells and whistles all working , including climate control!

I find small cars over rated and over priced. Not sure what the advantage is meant to be, just less practicality, and higher prices if you ask me. Show me a small car which compares value wise with my car! I doubt you'd find one to beat the fuel economy too unless you're paying more than you could for something you don't pedal!

Gadzooks man!! I hope you put some padding in there between the frame and bars!!

Why not use your R32 Golf? Better the devil you know.
I got a Pug 106 Zest 2 1.1, 30k miles, mint condition, £800 almost 3 years ago. Cheap to run and insure. It's still going strong. Can get a bike in the back if you are prepared to take the front wheel off. Don't ever buy a Fiat as they are CRAP. My last car was a Fiat and it dissolved before my eyes. The corrosion underneath was horrendous and the electrics worked part time, the headlights were dreadful. My bike lights were better.

Yes cars with timing chains are primitive. Belts are far better lighter and can spin faster and pretty durable that is why pretty much every car has a cam belt either toothed or ridged.
HTH.
I wondered why nobody had mentioned the Fiat Panda. I had been eyeing them up as a starter car for when I move back next year as they are so cheap.

Skoda Fabia estate... Dealer in the village has a 58 plate top of the range going for £4000 just to give you an idea.

We have the 52 plate version here, can easily get a roadie inside if back seats are flattened and front wheel removed.
