I voted upside down. I'm not so precious about my bikes that I can't bear to get a bit of dirt on the bars or saddle.
Do people really worry about scuffing the saddle? the hoods I understand, but the saddle? what are yours made of that could be damaged?

the first thing is to drop the chain onto the smallest sprocket first.
