Recently took my bike to the bike su=hop to be a rear tub fitted. Had a call later on that day to say the wheel was FUBAR.

Im shocked to see that a high quality wheel has cracked/de-laminated with under 500 miles and on very smooth roads.

Im thinking of getting myself a new rear carbon wheel for future racing, but want to spend under £200 new or used. Any ideas other the zipp for good price, durability and performance? Front is a trigon wheel, similar to 'lightweight' wheels

Pics to follow at some point.

This happened to a friend of mine. He had a pair of Zipp 404's. The LBS agreed that the damage was not normal and sent them back to Zipp. Wheels have not yet arrived back, but he was given a fairly good impression from the LBS that a warranty replacement would arrive.

Planet X wheels are just about as cheap as carbon wheels come, even so, you might stuggle to get a rear for £200. 2nd hand might be the only way to get one on budget. Just be careful though, you never know if 2nd hand wheels have been crashed.

What was the wheel that failed?
