I think I have, but I was such a wimp that I refused to go to the hospital to find out for sure! (It was agonisingly painful and I had to wear a sling for 6-8 weeks before it finally stopped hurting. There is a bump on the top of that shoulder and there isn't one on the uninjured side so I think the bone was broken but was able to heal without surgery.)
I originally tried to ignore my ankle as I was too much of a wimp to go to hospital and I hoped it was only a sprain but the next morning I couldn't ignore it and the hospital consultant who examined it and the x-ray was amazed that I had been able to stand the pain without medication as she said most people would have passed out or gone into shock.

yeah id its a simple ish break that lines up well enough they wont do surgery, with mine i had to keep pushing as the nhs looked at the bump but ignored the second break where it had dropped and gone in under the other part.

After 4 months totally out this summer flat on my back in agony before an operation, I just want to get back to where I was and keep up with the guys I cycle with. I still have nerve damage and have lost quite a lot of power in one leg. My lungs are doing very well as I have to work hard to keep up, but hills just break me now. Hopefully I will get abroad somewhere to ride in 2022 as I feel cramped in the UK.

Try and find my cycling mojo again.

The 2nd half of this year hasn't been easy for me. Working from home has removed any vestige of commuting and once the nights drew in,t was zwift or nothing and I often chose nothing.

My commuting is now gone again, at least until September, after it was just one day a week.

I've been doing the Turf urban exploration game during lunch time to help motivate me to do something during a work day. There's a thread on CC somewhere about it.

I had a broken ankle for years and unknowingly lived with it. When I played squash my right ankle would collapse under me with a searing pain which traveled up my leg. My GP diagnosed ligament damage, my wife insisted I stop playing. The same thing would happen walking on uneven ground, tripping on a kerb. Over time things improved and the ankle strengthened.

About 25 years later I fell off my garage roof one Saturday morning. In A&E my ankle was X-rayed, diagnosed as broken, strapped and I was given an appointment for the Tuesday fracture clinic.

At the fracture clinic the consultant told me the ankle was sprained not broken. He explained the presence of an old, healed previous break had caused the confusion. I replied I'd never broken my ankle, the conversation stopped when I decided the consultant probably knew better than me.

So 25 years with an undiagnosed broken ankle!!!

A similar thing happened with my dad, only it was broken fingers and thumb on his right hand. He had injured himself at work and had his hand x-rayed. The doctor looked at the x-ray and asked what he had been doing to his hand, and why was there no record of the earlier fractures? My dad said that he had never fractured any bones in his hand. The doctor showed him that the thumb and several fingers had been fractured multiple times!

It turned out to be injuries from his teens when he was a keen amateur boxer. He had caused them by hitting his opponents! (His trainer used to manipulate and tape up his fingers if they hurt after a hard fight! He never told my dad that the digits were fractured...)

I am retiring in April, so looking forward to doing a few tours. In May I intend to do an Ireland end to end. Then in June I will be doing Edinburgh to London with the Fridays. Then finally a tour in Spain with @ianrauk later in the year.
I am also running the start and finish of LEL, so will see some of you then.

2022, get a significant millage in, a mix of road and off road.
Hopefully start cycling to and from work one day a week

Complete a 30K ride, 40k and 50k ride
The above being part of getting ready to do C2C in 2023

More miles than this year, plague permitting. Most of the Friday's EL tour (assuming the gigs I'm planning to attend at the end of that week don't get cancelled or rescheduled again). I may ride part of the way up in the previous week…hopefully run my night IOW ride after it lapsed in 2021. And mostly, just more riding…

Just get out more, maybe find a campsite and just do an over nighter, but definitely kick 2021 in to touch and get out more then this year
