Really, I thought everyone on cycle chat was beating them off with a stick:giggle:

Don't mention beatings and sticks until the third date at east!

What sort of method of contact do you like .... if you hate phoning and she loves long phone calls you may be after the wrong woman! Just take it at a pace that feels right for you whilst trying to work out if she is feeling the same. For example you would be in for a shock if you were expecting me to turn up in killer heels as I only ever wear them about once a year, when I have to as I hate the things. I think meeting for lunch is a good idea as it is less pressured than other options.

Hire a room for an hour in a small privately-owned B&B, and ask her over. Have some Jacob's crackers and individually-wrapped bits of cheese at hand for a snack. You never know, you may get lucky and have time for a quickie, but if not then at least you'll have had something to eat and not wasted too much money.

I read a tip in a book on social etiquette from the 50s which has stood me in good stead on manny occasions.
"If you are planning to go dutch and share the expense of a date then the woman should give her money to the man before hand to avoid embarrassment."
such an easily overlooked thing like this could ruin a date.

On our first date we got to the pub and found I'd forgotten my purse!

These days I always give my money to the OH before we go to the pub, but thats because I can't be bothered to go to the bar.

A friend of mine managed to get off with a woman on a night out and actually borrowed a fiver off her to get the drinks in. (It was a long time ago whenyou could actually get two drinks for a fiver)

I don't like the 'kiss by 3rd date' advice because I would feel that I was working to a schedule, which wouldn't exactly produce romantic feelings. It took 7 years for my ex and I to get together; I don't like to rush!

Plus point: We were really sure of our feelings for each other by then.

Negative point: She looked really guilty, 'the morning after the night before'. I hugged her and asked what was wrong. In a shellshocked voice, she whispered "Oh God, I feel like I have just slept with my brother!"
i rest my case!
