That's exactly what my lad did a good few years ago,think he was 19 then too. Within a few months of passing his test wrote off the (ex) wifes Astra in a ditch.

Probably wasn't the first and won't be the last. My brother was a lunatic driver when younger! Luckily our mum doesn't know how he used to drive her pretty nippy Rover 216 or whatever it was!

MrsP bought a new poverty-spec Dacia Sandero and had change out of £6K.
Nary a problem with it this two-years past.

What!!!! Tell a 19 year old!!
Fortunately he does seem to have his head screwed on
He is also getting a black box with the insurance......not sure I like them but it should prompt him to monitor his driving manner.
