Compared to what, world wars, the IRA bombings? My sympathies lie with the victims.
As do mine, but it's Manchester, so I was reminded of the IRA Arndale bomb. Injured hundreds but killed none. Warrington killed 2. So I'd say yesterday's type of cowardly attack is somewhere between the IRA and war, although still rubbish so towards the lower end.

The ordinary people of Manchester showed why these psychopaths can never win. The taxi drivers, hotel staff and food workers who rallied around to help victims. The skill and courage of the emergency services.

My kids have gone to school worried if any of their friends were there. What a truly evil act.
If we can remember the lessons of history which showed the spirit of this country was never better than when bombs were being dropped on our parents/grandparents, the terrorists would do well to reflect on this. They will UNITE the country, not cause the divisions they're hoping for.

I saw this when I woke up this morning, make me feel really angry. My thoughts are with all the families affected. The terrorists will never win though, life will go on.

I agree with this sentiment with the proviso that "Uniting the country" doesn't mean the white faces uniting against the brown faces. Now is the time for all sections of our multicultural society to stand together and condemn terrorism

So saddened by the senseless waste of life from such a cowardly act. Innocent children FFS!

Our thoughts and hearts go out to all those families affected.

And well done to everyone in Manchester who dropped everything, even got out of bed, to go and help make strangers feel safer and to support the emergency service crews.

Try not to worry. Even this horrible attack killed only 22 of the thousands at the gig, of the 66 million in this country. Even if you were there, your chance of being even injured was small. These attackers are really rubbish. Current road traffic is more dangerous and that doesn't stop many people doing what they want. Celebrate life. Keep living. Win.
Thanks for that I won't be there as I'm working, he's 28 will be there with his girlfriend. By the time I finish work and get there the run would be long finished literally worried sick though even though the chances are small the poor parents last night would have thought that too and it happened to them so awful.

RIP Georgina Callander, 16. The first named victim of this atrocity.

My sympathies because this will become a regular thing in years to come, when our children are adults. Do you think that these sort of attacks will just one day stop?

My thoughts and sympathies are also with the family and friends of the dead and injured, I wish the latter a speedy recovery.

As for the attacks ending. Some are of the opinion that the UK, who they view as a terrorist country, is paying the price for its intervention in other countries. I fear the threat from Islamic extremists will stay with us for a very long time.

Shocking news. Woke up to it. Sombre mood in work today.

Quiet driving in from the South.

Was only in that exact spot 3 weeks ago coming out of a concert and my sister in law was there Sunday.

Scum.

In this day and age of almost constant shocking / bad news it is easy to become a little immune to it. I think this is a natural reaction to help deal with it. However, this attack is more shocking for me, firstly it targeted children and secondly it was a suicide bomber. As a father of a 5 year old I find it harder to switch off from it today, whilst trying to work it keeps popping into my mind. Very sad.

The complainers are already at it.

One chap has just been interviewed on TV complaining to the effect of security was rubbish, because they were only searching a random sample of people. He seems not to have grasped that if they'd tried to search the terrorist he'd have pressed the button and the result would be the same.

There's no defence except vigilance, and not letting cowardly scum affect our lives
