Hell of a day here.
My daughter has five of her staff hospitalised.
My wife has four of her school pupils hospitalised.
My lad had to attend to and sort out a blood covered young girl at the venue last night.
Terrible.
Just awful

Is one way to reduce terror attacks simply to stop feeding them by way of threads like this and the outpourings in the news and social media?

I don't think this makes a jot of difference. They are beyond reason. Beyond human.

Unfortunately brainwashed with an ideology that is corrupt to its core and masquerades as a religious crusade.

Some of those outpourings have shown that in times of real need, barriers don't exist. People went out of their way to help after, possibly something they'd not consider doing otherwise.

I'm at a very large hotel..
I've not been searched.....
If I was a terrorist I could simply walk into the crowded breakfast hall and blow myself and others around me up...

It's as easy as that if your goal is terror and death.
You can't beat them with security..there will always be a way.
Lorry bombs in the dark old days of the IRA showed that.

Whilst I agree the blanket media coverage is over the top it is pretty hard not to expect some media coverage for this type of attack is it? Does is make a difference? probably not. The media stories posting vile messages from wannabe attackers and those claiming responsibility really shouldn't be posted on mainstream newspaper websites though. As for this thread, I doubt they are likely to be browsing this forum on a regular basis.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
So what do we do ? Take it on the chin, sing songs of unity? Burn candles? Just think 'Glad it wasn't me this time'?
It's a good start.

Who is perpetrating these attacks and how can we stop them.
A sickening attack by a bunch of cowards.
Obviously we do that, as well.

You're right matey, not much can be done. If you're an insurgent intent on killing yourself and taking as many people as possible with you you're effectively unstoppable, unless your intentions are known about in advance.

"Excuse me Sir, may I search you please?" Bang.

There's isn't much that can stop them but security is vital. We have no perception of the level and volume of threats that the security services stop each day. If we did we most likely would not carry on and they would win.

So security is playing a part in stopping them from winning

This isn't true.

It's a common sentiment, but like most issues it is about reducing the incidence and impact of events, and mimising recovery. This is what Security does for us, and it beats many attacks.

There is no 100% protection from anything, true, but that doesn't mean Security can't defeat them - we can work to a minimise attacks.
