The day the Earth Stood Still..... Keanu Reeves is an acting genius.
Oh and the LadyKillers... Tom Hanks much better than the black and white version with that old guy out of Star Trek.....

I'll get my own coat on the way out..........

Don’t get me started on the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still. Nothing will beat the Michael Rennie version. It’s a proper science fiction film. The remake was a joke.

There is a new Watership Down due out soon.
Will be interesting to see how that is received.
No way, one of my favourite films.

Ian Collins ran a phone in on Talk Radio many years ago asking for people's most moving cinematic death scenes, I got through on air to nominate the ending where the black rabbits come down, gets me every time.

Not a remake, reboot or rip off... but Son of Rambow is loads better than any other Rambo film.

It's also been argued that Guy Ritchie's Snatch is a rip-off of Guy Ritchie's Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels ... both are good but Snatch is better

The Maltese Falcon with Humphrey Bogart is apparently a lot better than the 1931 version... not seen it though.

and Casino Royale with Daniel Craig runs rings around the 1960s version... although Burt Bacharach's soundtrack is a million times better than David Arnold's.

To be honest, I am not a fan of most remakes of films (or sometimes even songs) if they are classics

There are one or two exceptions though, especially if the plot brings something new to the table

However, there are films that bring nothing new and are merely money spinning pandering to a newer generation

Turd in a Microwave springs to mind

The Omen was one such remake. It was identical to the original and I swear it was even shot in the same house

Indeed it was (same answer to both sections of your reply)

War Of The Worlds can be designated the same way
The Tom Cruise film was wrong, just so wrong
