Ok, it's a previous model, but you can't argue with that saving can you?

Or for something not quite so aero, but still with a whopping £2,200 (almost) off:

These are two of many Boardman bikes that appear to be on clearance at Cycle Republic - don't forget your 10% BC discount!

Very pleased with my new warm jersey

Their stuff is really nice. The jerseys are duplicates of ones I already have, although in different colours.

The shorts are an unknown quantity, but hopefully they'll be equally good.

Couldn't resist that, I'm sure they will come in useful for one of the fleet.

Any of our adventure folk tried one of these ?

Jobsworth X2 Outdoor Lightweight Cooking Stove System - £19.99 at Planet X

No but reasonable as the price is I have an inbuilt wariness of anything claiming to be a "system".

Isn't it one of those things which is really just for superfast tea brews or making "adventure" instant meals with?

I'd rather use a Trangia paired with a small "pocket rocket" type stove.

Proper meals and as much espresso on tap as I can swallow.

Although I generally go for cheap mid-range stuff in things like chains it's my understanding that the 830 is an inferior chain - something to do with its construction, the details of which I can't remember. But meaning it wears quickly. Also my understanding that the 850, which I tend to use, is just fine, and that for models above that you are just paying more for the same chain with added surface bling, rather pointless coatings etc.

Interesting... I looked at some reviews where it scored 4.7 out of 5. Those that didn't like it complained of wear.

I've never knowingly used a SRAM chain.
My favourite to date has always been the Kmc z8s.

There seems to be a marketing ploy to badger people into leaving reviews as soon possible after receiving an item, often if bought online prior to obtaining the item, I often wonder if you asked customers to re-review 6 months down the line they would say the same.

Thanks for taking my post in the spirit in which it was meant, ie as info. I am passing on the opinion of someone who knows lots about such things. No problem with sram chains of 850 and above. Tho as I said, I'd stay with the 850 rather than going higher, unless by some oddity the other ones are cheaper. No point imho paying more for a shiny finish. Sram are my default chains for both 8 and 9 speed.

Just taken delivery of a new helmet from Planet X, only £10 in their latest flash sale:

https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/HECACROIX/carnac-croix-road-helmet

I must say I'm totally impressed, much lighter and more comfortable than my current Giro Foray. A couple of issues I have with the Giro is the way the straps lay against my cheeks (very irritating) and the very minimal padding inside the helmet. Glad to say the PX lid doesn't suffer from either of these and also has a padded chinstrap. Result!

Also managed snaffle a KMC X11-93 11 speed chain for £12.99, these are normally around the £20 - £25 mark from the other main retailers. It's also in a rather nice black & silver finish to add a nice bit of bling to the bike!

I'm very tempted to buy another one (or maybe two) but Mrs W said 'Why do you need another helmet, you've only got one head' to which I replied 'Why do you need so many shoes, you've only got one pair of feet'. I really should learn to think before I speak :banghead:
