i respect your views sadjack, good points well made.

i think its clear to say im pro helmet, i always wear one and make the kids wear theirs. i cycle with a friend who usually doesnt wear one, he knows i think he should but hes a grown up and i cannot tell him what to do so thats as far as it goes.
We are both adults so can happily have different views and respect each other opinions, we just enjoy our cycling

went out this morn had a nice ride with the kids, good weather for it here in sunny st helens

ps.

he is wrong of course

heres another post that shows my views, care to explain your claim that i force people to wear helmets?

But you called me a liar and categorically stated elsewhere that you have never stated someone was 'wrong" not to wear a helmet!

So you cannot have posted this............I think that will serve to answer this query.

You stated in another thread some weeks ago that you were pro-compulsion. That implies that you believe in compulsion, the removal of the right to not wear a helmet, forcing people to do so.

Now lets get this out in the open... not avoid it and point to other threads.

Do you believe in compulsion or not, and confirm once and for all that you have at no point stated that you are

I believe in compulsion for things that are a proven safety benefit (H&S etc), As there is a lot of conflicting evidence towards helmets at this moment in time i would argue for frther investigation before any law is passed. My view on wearing a helmet has not changed, my view on compulsion has not changed, my view on the limits of currecnt helmets has sofetned due to these thread. Therefore my current state of affairs is to investigate further. Helmet compulsion now put to bed as it cannot go any further.

So, if your for freedom of choice, do you contest other H&S laws? Do you contest seat belt wearing?
Or are you selective?

Back on topic, i still wear a helmet, you agree i have that choice, im not trying to make you wear a helmet, what is your issue other than not being able to convince me im wrong to wear one (as this is the only thing i can think your after?) I think the data is flawed, yes i dont therefore consider it valuable enough in this case.

Yes, you have told lies, you have posted things on here i have not said, claiming to be quoting whilst changing the words and therefore meaning to meet your own agenda, are you now denying changing he words?

Well, just got back from the specialist. Damn, I've got to have a plate put in now. Operation is due Saturday. Bit of a bummer as that will probably prolong the recovery time and I really need to get out on the bike to let some steam off. :bicycle:

I'm not normally too active on forums, I don't think they're very healthy in many ways. This helmet nonsense just reinforces that for me.

I'm off to join a gym  to stem the flow... or maybe I need a recumbent for a couple months

Enjoy your choices peoples

Plate put in where?

You have decided that compulsion is "put to bed", or rather you haven't. When I pointed out that compulsion had been "parked" and was no longer up for discussion your reply was:

wrong again, more lies, there is a thread for this and my thoughts are there for ll to see, you want to avoid them, why would this be?

Of course I now realise that you are not restricting discussion on compulsion, and this is made absolutely clear by the above post!

The reluctance to discuss compulsion as a wider part of the debate is unacceptable as it is integral.

Putting it off is convenient, but if that saves having to recognise the problems caused then please feel free to declie to comment.

For example Norwich runs cycle training sessions and has made helmets compulsory. The result has been a significant drop in attendance, particularly in deprived areas. Teachers who organise these courses are citing helmets as the main cause for this reduction

Compulsion in this case has excluded these children from training, and has thus denied the benefits of training, along with the accident reduction that is frequently linked with training.
No. Lets get this straight. The children have made a choice not to wear helmets and have therefor excluded themselves. Compulsion excludes no one. Failure to comply with a compulsory rule does.

Well as you can see for yourself the first quote was after the second, so indeed does make sense, further evidence of your underhand ways. (look at the times and dates)

I think you lost your way when you started misrepresenting my views, you never win people over to your way of thinking with lies and pathetic attempts to poke fun, just makes you look childish. Your putting more effort into trying to unpick my posts than to offer anything new to the debate.

Well I'm pleased to say the replacement Atmos arrived today - just 4 working days after the crashed one was posted off to Madison. The same colour as the old one, but better still its got the new Roc Loc 5 system. Great service and only £65 compared to £129.99 RRP. Great helmet this: low profile, very comfortable, great fit for me, very well vented - indeed you'd hardly know you were wearing one.

Just need my collar bone to hurry up!!!

Oh dear, oh dear.

Lets clear it up once and for all, are you claiming that ...

1. Compulsion is "put to bed" and not open for discussion

2. Compulsion is open for discussion

Make the answer simple - 1 or 2

Hi

but you know the answer, it was my wish it was put to bed on this thread but open for discussion on the thread entitled pro compulsion. as youve made perfectly clear you consider them the same so i know your stance. i also realise that no discussion can take place without it now on this board anyway

Thank you for that....

We have established at last that it was "your wish" only.

However you are still showing a total ignorance when it comes to my "stance", merely reinforcing your own mistaken preconceptions.
