They didn't get all disco until Trafalgar or Mr Natural which was like their tenth album. The Bee Gees had a varied history before they hit it big. They were almost Prog Rock until the 70s.

They looked like right berks when they stropped off the Clive Anderson show though.

I saw that at the time, I thought it was good they did so and I admired them for it, Anderson was a right twat.

Do you remember the Clubs out of Town , Smokies , Tramtracks , Carriages, Bredbury Hall and the like ?
I've danced in all of those. But I go back as far as the Oasis, Poco Poco, Alma Lodge etc.

Using an encyclopaedia to attempt to define the soul must be just about the most soulless thing I can imagine.
Soul is the music people understand. Sure it's basic and it's simple. But it's something else 'cause, 'cause, 'cause it's honest, that's it. Its honest. There's no feckin' bullshit. It sticks its neck out and says it straight from the heart. Sure there's a lot of different music you can get off on but soul is more than that. It takes you somewhere else. It grabs you by the balls and lifts you above the shite.

Say it loud. I'm black and I'm proud.

Could you imagine going clubbing in a white suite...then doing That dance......if the door staff let you in it would only be to make sure they were busy scrapping..

I went in Poco a couple of times , not sure about Oasis , Oceans 11 comes to mind , but my first haunts in Town were Spring Gardens , Top of the Town , Mr Smiths , Tiffanys, The Bossa Nova
Barons Beer Keller , and a host of others , all when I was 16-17 !!

Top of the town was great. Not too big, separate bar to chat a girl up in. Spring gardens equally as good. Mr Smith's was very big. They used to have stripper on. New century hall was a good night and the Top Ten club at Belle Vue. God, I miss those days

Yes the CIS. Sprung dance floor and huge stage. Saw a lot of acts there. I often saw them in the week as well, as I worked for a while contracted to the BBC at their studio at Dickenson Road where I had to act as sound/vision engineer for Top of The Tops. We supplied monitors and amps. Just an apprentice though.
