Meanwhile Coke / Pepsi had an almost guaranteed standard, so the advice was to get a bottle of "full fat" (none of that namby pamby diet stuff) crack the top and leave for a few hours. Then drink the flat drink.
Sounds like poor advice. Coke's recipe has varied by country and even region for a long time - I expect Pepsi does too. The southern US version of Coke contains something that causes me extreme wind but it's been a few years so I don't remember what.

I reckon that if I created a fizzy sweet drink, laden with sugar, with a high lard contend, and carbonated with steak, it would sell like hot cakes. Sweet, creamy, fatty, hot cakes.
