No, they don't.

I wondered if somebody would post that

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
I've got quite a high-powered car (2ltr turbo, chipped) but tend to drive pretty close to the speed limit in most places. It gets to the limit quickly though
I will speed, but only in an emergency.
And my licence's clean.

You've lost me there, I'm afraid.

IIRC the sentencing guideline for more than 30mph above the relevant limit is "fine; and consider disqualification." As someone who observes even the 20 mph limit outside my door, I think that is how it should be.

There's a section of road near us that was 70kph. It's through a forest and you get deer and wild boar crossing the road. I always stuck to 70 (since I'm a vegetarian ;) ) and frequently had cars up my backside and occasionally those that'd overtake. (I've noted that some French drivers don't like to overtake but will follow way to closely). The limit was removed recently and it's now open road, so 90kph. I stick to 90kph and still get cars up my backside and the occasional one overtaking me.

As a rule, I stick to posted speed limits (though I'm no saint) but do obey limits in towns and populated areas generally. Clearly, I do go slower than the limits too if the conditions dictate.

But I'll fully admit to 'making progress' (as is the common euphemism in some circles) on open roads when I feel conditions permit. It's wrong, I full admit it and would not try to make excuses for it if I was done. I'm not talking instant loss of licence speeds btw but points and fine for sure.

I bet you've never snorted coke from a whores ass either?
In Yorkshire? Dream on. We've gone smokeless now, so we just keep it in our baths.

I understand now. By 'Knob World', you mean the sort of lunatics who think that a second Speed Awareness Course might have some effect on you, even though the first one went straight through your ears without troubling the contents.

I stick to speed limits because I grew up.
No fun in spending a life wondering when you'll be caught. And let's face it, there will always be someone up your backside willing to push things further.

I have a friend, a beautiful sexy blonde. Her body will never heal from the damage caused by a piece of shoot that didn't think speed limits applied to him.
He was never traced, because he kept his foot down and either never saw, or didn't care as her car somersaulted through a field and an electricity pole.

One answer. Ban for life.

I think of it when I'm on a motorway in a zero visibility downpour and they're still hammering past at 110.

HI drive a van for a living, and having done so for around 9 months, have learnt a great deal about driving. I don't own a car, and am only 21, just passed the 2 year mark for having my licence. I very rarely speed, and don't give 2 sh*ts if people are waiting to get past, or wanting me to speed. I'm not prepared to risk another persons life, my licence or job for the convinience of some idiot behind me. They can wait. *Edit - I can't speed on motorways. Van is limited to 62 mph :P
