This almost got me on a train to Chicago, and another to Wheaton in the suburbs, but I figured I'd better pay some bills and get ready for the Thanksgiving Holiday. I also figured it would behoove me to keep the charming and delightful Mrs.GA charming and delightful.

Having spent a couple of hours yesterday cleaning both bikes I have, got me thinking on how much money I have spent on bike maintenance this year,

Just on essential items to keep the bikes going.

Road bike, £40 on 2 new tyres.
MTB, 3 new tyres, 2 sets of brake blocks, 3 inner tubes, 2 puncture repair kits, bike pump. so about £70

How much have you spent!!

Probably over £100 but under £200.....service,new chain and cassette, slime tubes, cleaning stuff etc

About 1/3rd of my disposable. Not a penny of it grudged. The pleasure of owning/using vintage bikes outweighs any monetary considerations for me:bicycle::biggrin:

I don't grudge spending cash on my bike as it gives me great pleasure....look after your bike and it will look after you...different story with my car....I hate spending money on it

Gave my car to my youngest son earlier in the year as I was no longer using it to any great extent. Mind you still seem to get suckered for running costs!!!! Hey Ho parenthood eh!

I didn't spend much on the bike itself....
....new cassette, one chainring and a chain, and two tyres, about £100

Oh, and a couple of worn out wheels....better make that £215 total...

The real expense came from routine kit replacements. and bits and bobs

Replacement jacket £60
Replacement overtrousers £60
Replacement SPD shoes £65
Replacement rear light £15
Replacement cafe lock £10
Tubes £15
"Falling off bits" from computers, lights, pumps etc etc £40..
All the other "stuff" that gets pushed, guiltily, out of shopping memory. £?

The list is endless. I don't care.
